We were so very blessed this
Thanksgiving.
My husband, our son and I spent the day with my Mother in Law, his sister, her husband, and my niece (home from college, yay) and nephew.
We were joined this year by two young men who volunteer at the local fire station where my brother in law is the chief. No matter who hosts, our homes are always open to the volunteers who can’t make it home or need someplace to celebrate.
Let me just say that I am really, really glad my hubby and I bought the biggest turkey at the market, a 23 pounder. We had hardly a scrap left when those boys were done!
They could not have been any better mannered and were a real joy to have share our day.
They sure could eat though. lol…
I have a feeling, being full time students and busy volunteers, they have been missing out on home cooked meals?
Just a guess…
I did get a few shots of the house before everyone arrived, after that… not so much!
This is my first attempt at drawing a turkey.
Do.Not.Laugh.
well, okay… just not loud!
My free centerpiece.
Branches from my yard + a Ball jar.
This was a “during” shot of getting the table ready.
You get the idea though…
I have gotten my monies worth out of those mini pumpkins!
The bronze chargers were $1.49 each.
I bought them to round out the set of 8 charges I had I hand.
I had 4 settings at this table, and 6 at the large farm table.
I never did get a photo of it! Sorry.
I don’t have a lot of different sets of dishes so I used what I did have and tried to make it work.
I’m not a big “tablescaper” so it’s not terribly exciting.
All though… I am crazy, and decided to take down my Christmas mantle and pop up something neutral real quick so it didn’t clash (it was looking uhg-ly) with the Thanksgiving table.
It would have made me crazy!
It ended up taking about ten minutes total. No joke!!
Because, damn near alllllll THIS!
…was still sitting on the farm table 5 ft away.
I plucked a few things out and called it good!
(the crap storm on my table has since been put away. Don’t worry, we had someplace to eat.)
The mantle still looks like this.
I wasn’t in the mood to flip it back.
I’ll do it tomorrow.
If I feel like it.
…or maybe I’ll craft???
Who knows?
I know I don’t.

Your home always looks so beautiful! So you took down the Christmas decor & put up Thanksgiving decor? Am I understanding this correctly? LOL
What a gorgeous home! I particularly love the frame around the wreath. I’m taking that idea!
Visiting from Gina’s blog! Your turkey that you drew looked great, and my dining table (in fact, the whole house,) looked liked yours hours before the feast! Loved your tabletop, too.
You are so cute and funny Shannon! Wish we were neighbors. Your home looked gorgeous for Thanksgiving.
your Thanksgiving decor is gorgeoust – I love the non-traditional aqua/turquoise color you used. If I decorated for thanksgiving, my husband’s family would ask me if we were expecting someone special
. We did use real dishes this year though
Thanks for sharing.
love your colors and flowers in a mason jar…at least i think it is…i did that too!
