A Fireplace Mantel Makeover {the beginning}

Updating A Fireplace Mantel & Hearth

Here is a lil’ bitty peek.
It’s gonna be awhile before the full reveal!
There is still lots to do.
And we are working around the weather too.

Our Mantel Before the Newest Updates Began

For Past Mantel Looks, Check Out The Links Below;
“We”
(meaning mostly Jim)
were busy working on the mantel last weekend.
Unfortunately, the gorgeous piece of wood we bought to use for the mantel, is hopelessly warped.

So we went with an alternative.
The only thing in town available that was deep enough to take the present mantel from
slim to fat
was a piece with a veneer.
Which is fine, since it will be painted anyway.

So on with the work.
Mush Jim, Mush!!
{hehe}

Jim has this amazing set of router bits and we used one of those to make the trim piece ourselves.
(again… “we” being Jim!)

***Update… here are the elusive ”bits”
{and you girls are baaaad! lol}

NEXT UP!
Working on the Hearth…

It would be great if I was mad about something!
I bet it would be much more fun
{and more productive too}
for chipping all this old tile off.

Quick.
Someone Tick Me Off….

PS-Don’t forget to stop in tomorrow to see my pick for
