Thanks for stopping by!
This is my latest project.
It involves a sweet little set
of nesting tables and some fabulous
La Craie furniture paint in Debutante.
I adore this color.
It’s the perfect shade of pink.
A little bit vintage… a little bit shabby~glam!
We have had practically no Summer here
and with the odd rain showers,
it was so convenient to be able to
paint in the house.
(La Craie paint, from Maison Blanche has almost no VOC’s.)
In fact, I did not notice any odor at all…
but the furniture was stinky as heck!
After the paint dried, I think it sealed
all the stinky in, because it smells fine now.
Whew!!
This is what I started out with.
A set of 2 out of 3 nesting tables.
The Largest and the middle.
No idea where the tiny 3rd table is?
This set was from a yard sale and it was no where in sight.
Sort of sad to see the trio separated.
Originally, they were a dark, reddish hued wood.
After
I loved getting to skip all the prep work.
No sanding. No priming.
Just the FUN part
A light base coat, and a second finishing coat offered plenty of coverage.
I distressed it with a real quick one-two using some sand paper.
Then I was ready to add a little luster.
I used some Folk Art craft paint in
Champagne Pearl. I applied it with a cheap sponge brush, sliding it right along the edging with a light touch.
I just wanted a soft, sheer, washed look.
I was a little nervous working on this.
You know when you like something and you’re not sure if you should stop at good enough or keep going?
Well that was me with this.
I’m so glad I added the tiny bit of
pearly shimmer though because now
it feels extra special.
I finished it off with some clear wax and that is when I got this pretty shade, with a little more depth and complexity.
I’ll be finishing up the other little Qt next.
I’ll be finishing up the other little Qt next.
Unfortunately, it has some pretty big issues with the table top. It’s already painted in Debutante… but I am still cooking up what I’ll be doing with it as far as a repair.
I’m so happy to have found
such a great paint product to work with.
The more I use it, the more I love it!
In fact, I am loving
La Craie Chalk Based Paint so much
that soon it will be available
here in Oregon at Fox Hollow.
If you have any questions about
La Craie Premium Furniture Paint please let me know.
I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

I love most that you took a little jump and added that shimmer. I am not a pink person, but this is the most delicate, and classy pink I have ever seen. You could fit it into any decor. ITS GORGEOUS!
Have I said I LOVE IT YET? LOL!
Great job,
Hugs,

That indeed is a pretty shade of pink! What an improvement!
Very Pretty!!
Great job on these tables. I love the color and I am not a huge pink fan. Love the tone. Great that you are selling this paint Congrats!.
It looks beautiful Shannon!
Gorgeous color and I too love the fact that you skip all that boring stuff and skip right to the painting!
Maybe the little table is hiding from the pink paint? I heard he’s really macho and pink isn’t his color!
Kelly
I love that sweet pink table! The color is beautiful…I’ve never heard of that paint before.

Linda
What a transformation! I just finished my first ever painted furniture project but when I went out for a couple of hours there was a freak thunderstorm/hail shower (was sunny when I left!) and it all got ruined! Perhaps I need to get some low VOC paint so I can do it indoors next time…
Shannon, I love the color, and this project turned out so perfectly vintagey feminine. And….you got accepted to BlogHer! I did too, but am having such snafus with my code still. Woo hoo for you and me too!
Can you send me the link as to where I can pre order and the colors. Is it on your facebook? Thanks, I am so ready to dive in to this!
That turned out great, Shannon. I love the color and have never heard of that paint.
Are you sure there was a 3rd table? I have seen them sold new with just the two tables, too. I just love the job you did on them- xo Diana
It’s beautiful, Shannon. I love it! I know exactly what you mean about leaving alone or adding one more step. I have regretted not stopping many times! You did great though. Your instincts were good. Can’t wait to hear more about the paint.
Ann
GORGEOUS! Love this, Shannon! That color is BEAUTIFUL! I usually don’t like pink, but you converted me! What a great piece!!!!

Literally Inspired
Such a sweet little makeover, Shannon! Love the color and the pearlized touch is just perfect!
xo Heidi
Debutante is the best name for a paint I’e ever heard! It perfectly describes that color, soft pink, not too hard, just subtle and sophisticated:)

The pink is perfect on the table, Shannon…you did a lovely job on it!
Where have I been? I have never heard of this paint. I love that color! Like everybody else I would like to know the price and stuff. Love it!
Did you see my post of the painted cans? I copied you and linked you
So I have been researching this paint since reading your post and most say it is the same price as AS–a little cheaper some say. Will you be selling samples? Most are saying there isn’t a difference between this one and AS–what is your opinion? I have never tried real chalk paint and would love to be able to start with a sample. I just love this pink color. looks like they have a lot of pretty colors.
This looks very lovely!
Love how your table came out, what a great idea to put the pearly coat on it. By the way, I have nominated you for the Sunshine Award. Stop by my blog and check out the details! Hope your weather improves.
Shannon,
Beautiful table, the color is so pretty and even the paint can is pretty!
Tanya
Oh, I just love the color that you chose. Such a sweet, soft pink and the shimmer is perfect! I’m so glad that I ran across this. I’m part of the team planning the Southern Bloggers Conference in October and Annie Omar, founder of Maison Blanche paint company is going to be a presenter/speaker! I’ll be sharing your post over on the SBC facebook page.
I love the luster you added. It was just the right finishing touch. It sounds like we’re painters of a similar mindset. I always have a moment where I either can’t decide if I like the piece or where I wonder if I’ve gone one step to far.
With this one, you struck the perfect tone.
Beautiful.

O.K. I even commented on this but didn’t notice the part about the new paint! I am intrigued!
I stumbled into your blog and found all those lovely repurposed bottles, tins, cans. Soooooo pretty and lovely. Can’t stop following you. You’re creative.
What a beautiful shade of pink. Love this Chalkpaint. Is this a new line?? I have seen Sloan’s paint, but not this one. This is great..
Hi Shannon,
So good to hear you talking about this paint line! I’ll be on board in California in a couple of months myself! Great idea to add the little bit of shimmer!
Great job!,
Barbara
