My $30 Flocked Christmas Tree Details
Hey Foxy friends!! I’m getting so many questions about my $30 flocked Christmas Tree. *Updated: it’s $35 this year [click here to grab one]! I thought I would answer all your questions for you in one post. I know Christmas trees can cost into the thousands of dollars, so I shouldn’t be surprised that so many of you were interested in this super-affordable flocked cutie. Now, it’s not a grand tree, but if you are looking for a tree that is easy to manage as far as putting up, storing and paying for, this might be the tree for you!
Today, I’m happily sharing where I got it, where you can order one, how many lights I used, what kind, and the dimensions of the basket I used last year, and the size of vintage crock I’m using this year.Â
We live in a 1920’s cottage style home, and the modest room sizes made this a great tree for us. If you live in a home with a grander scale or vaulted ceilings, you might want something that has a larger presence.
The tree is green, with white flocking. I’m sharing it “lit” and the brightness makes it appear whiter than it will look when you remove it from the box.Â
I loved mine naked, with just the white lights, and decided to add all white decorations last year. It’s definitely a blank slate though and you could decorate it to taste.Â
Last year I used a basket instead of a tree stand and skirt.
This year I put it in a vintage crock, and thus far, it is unadorned. Save for the lights.Â
DETAILS:
I’ll be sharing links for your shopping convenience, some may be affiliate links.Â
-
The tree is from Walmart: find it online [HERE] and it ships to your home for free!
- *UPDATE 2018: the tree is $35 dollars this year.Â
-
It comes in three sections, has 378 branch tips, it has pre-hinged branches for easy set up and the tree stand is included.
( A kind reader let me know the number is T-20 this year)
Last year, when I took my tree down, I separated the three sections and bagged it up in a large, heavy-weight plastic trash bag and taped it shut. I left all the lights on it. This year, it only took me five minutes to set it up! I barely had to re-fluff it.Â
(The three sections stacked together – just out of the bag)
(And laid out – slipped back together)
TIP: If you’ve got a just or sisal rug, lay a sheet down first. Trust me, flocking is a bear to get our of a natural fiber rug!!
-
I bought these lights [HERE] – Two, 300 light stands of traditional (not LED) white lights, with white wire. I like this, versus 6 100 light sets, because you only have to deal with one connector and one section of the un-lit wires where you connect them that way.Â
-
The basket is from HomeGoods, it is lined, has handles, and it measures 15.5 inches tall x 15 inches wide.
-
The vintage crock is an 8 Gallon size.
-
I think something between 14-16 inches tall would offer the best results.
These vessels were the perfect height for the pole to be covered, and the branches to sit/rest right at the top. Using these as an alternative to the stand that is included, I didn’t put the “feet” on the pole base. Instead, I supported the tree by stuffing the basket with scrunched-up brown grocery sacks. Packing them around the pole base on all side. This year, I recycled some heavy brown packing paper and stuffed the crock with that. I think it’s working out even better!
(The pole section, minus the feet)
I’m sure you’ll be seeing my tree again later in the season, once I get it dolled up and dressed. For now, I’m just enjoying the glow!Â
Happiest of Holidays to you, from me and my $30 tree!! xo ShannonÂ
Disclaimer: I’m not telling you to erect this tree without the feet/stand it comes with. I’m simply sharing how I did mine. I don’t have curious pets or small children. While I had great results, please display your tree at your own discretion. I’m not responsible for toppled trees, broken family heirlooms, or shattered Christmas dreams.
Love this tree and your beautiful home. Where did . would you share where your Merty Christmas sign come from ? Love that too
Hi Kristen, thank you so much. The sign is from right here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/mangoseedmarketplace
I bought this tree for our “snowman” tree that goes in our foyer. It is a perfect fit and I am in love with my
$30 tree, best deal of the year!!!
YAY! I’m so glad. I’d love to see a photo if you want to share it on my Facebook page!
Thank you for this “share’ post. After seeing so many flock trees displayed these two past years and wanting one, at this price I didn’t feel guilty. I shop weekly at Walmart and like their Better Homes and Garden products. Love your cute bungalow style home. Always enjoy all your fun decorating.
That was me, exactly. I wanted flocked, but have a large tree and couldn’t justify buying another one. Plus, this is such an easy little size. I’m so glad you got your flock-fix 😉 I love the Better Homes & Gardens stuff too, and have such fun sharing it all!
Happy Holidays to you!
Hey Shannon, I just bought a flocked pencil tree from walmart T-30 it was $69 comes in 3 easy sections and is prelit. Great if you don’t have a big space. I live in a small townhouse so this is perfect!
I think I saw that one! I “looked” at an all white one the other day… but made myself walk-away. 😉
Enjoy your decorating Ideas, I also have a white flocked tree that I don’t decorate just a bow. Anyway in your last email you showed the Christmas candles that looked like tree bark. I love them!!went to my Walmart here in Sebastian Fl. They don’t have them. So disappointed . Maybe I’ll try on line? Anyway Happy Holidays…….Love you Place…

Hi Kathleen. I’m sorry. Try back soon, maybe they weren’t in yet? Our store is still getting the BHG holiday merchandise in.
how I love your house. Mine a small terrace greatly downsized find it hard think I go over the top with decs.
Shall take a leaf out of your book.
All so beautiful.
Oh it’s so hard to do-less. I struggle with it! We downsized considerably when we bought this home, and it took some getting used to.
I decided I was going to try a lighter (decorating) hand this year, we’ll see how I do? LOL
Could you tell me where you get rugs in picture?
Hi Betty!
I’ve bought through RugsUSA and online here: http://amzn.to/2zl6HTM affiliate link
I order the color: bleached
Happy shopping 🙂
Well ‘ya sold me on it, now I want a $30 flocked tree too. It would go nicely with my giant real home flocked tree I think, and I have a bin of white ornaments needing a home on a smaller tree.
Sounds like those ornaments need their very own tree girl 😉
I’ve got one in the box and I’ll use it next year.
Absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks sweet Marty!!
Happy Holidays 🙂
