Today I’m Sharing a Day in Our Life
here on the Oregon Coast!
When my sister and her guy came up to visit recently, we made sure to try and squeeze as much coastal Oregon goodness as we could into their visit! One day while Jim was working, (Poor Jim!) Austin and I played tour guide and we headed out to the beach.
This included a trip to
Charleston Harbor, where we had a
fabulous seafood lunch.
After we ate, we naturally went down
to the wharf to buy more seafood for dinner.
It’s hard to pass up. This is the good stuff.
Ultra fresh. Right off the boats!
You can buy your crab live
to take home and cook..
or pre-cooked and waiting on ice for you!
We picked ours from the big salt water tank.
And bonus!!
They cleaned and cooked it there.
Totally worth the few extra dollars.
(I even caught Austin smiling!)
Even though the T-shirt says otherwise!
And then you turn around and
THIS GUY
is staring at you.
YIKES!!!!!
I think I’ll go take some more pictures…
and make sure to stay out of the water!
There are a lot of hard working folks here where I live. Guys that fish for a living and depend on the Salmon, Halibut, Cod, Tuna and Crab they catch. We really like to buy right from the source and support the local economy.
After we ate and shopped, we headed out towards Simpson Reef to see the Sea Lions.
It was a gorgeous day,
but the further out we got,
the colder it got.
It was so foggy… which is often the case!
So the Sea Lion are hard to see.
You can always hear them though.
Sorry, this was the best I could do.
(used to sunny California)
were freezing!!!!
But it is gorgeous it it’s own special way.
Raw and powerful.
There is much more to our coastline.
Like Shore Acres Park.
We really do get sun sometimes.
Though all our rain, makes it what it is…
and it’s worth it in the long run.
It really is wonderful to live in a place
that is so rich with history
and to have nature all around us.
I hope you enjoyed this glimpse of where I live.
The wind is howling as I type.
We are bracing for a storm.
Lighting and 90MPH winds are expected.
Winter has arrived.
Appearance in full on any site other then Fox Hollow Cottage is theft!
So beautiful! I could live on crab, YUM 🙂 Loved seeing these photos, it’s a part of the US that I would love to visit someday.

Shannon-I have never been on that side of the country…my Bro lived in Portland before he passed away. He LOVED it. It holds a special place in my heart for him. All the fresh SEAFOOD! YUM!!! Such gorgeous photos even w/ the mist! XO
Shannon- That is beautiful. I love the Oregon coast and have a good friend that lives there. It is wild and wonderful. People from the Midwest that go to Oregon never really “come home” again-except to visit- xo Diana
Learning a little more about you… I love seafood! we have an abundance here in the South too! Yours looked ultra yummy- except that shark head 🙂
Feel better soon.
I’m glad you took us on this day trip of the Oregon Coast. It’s beautiful!
Oh I am now craving crab, cod, halibut, tuna…oh all of the above – yummy! My husband will only eat seafood if it is bought straight from the source. I think I would love it there…it just looks so beautiful. Looks like your sister was a tad on the chilled side! Hope you are feeling better 🙂
hope you are feeling better! I have only been to Oregon once ( the coast) and just loved it. Your pictures are just how I remember it. So breathaking. Perhaps I will have to visit you one day if I ever get out there again.
How fun and my favorite food of all. Crab. Love it hot and dipped in melted butter with lemon. Yum.
