A Flutter of Fall Home Decorating at Fox Hollow Cottage
Hellooooo FALL!
Hello Fox Hollow friends!
Wherever you are I hope it’s not too hot & that it’s feeling like fall for you, like it is for us.
When I had to turn on the heater when I showered the other night, and I knew it was true, fall really is here.
The mornings are crisp, and the sky is filled with sunshine. It’s one of the best times of the year here in the Pacific Northwest. Absolutely divine!!!!
How about today, we start where I left you last… in the main entry.
Better known as… the other side of my front door!
You can view that room and get the decorating details and see the changes we’ve made [here] & how we finished off the fireplace [here].
Let’s turn left shall we and enter the living room proper.
I titled this a “flutter of fall” because I haven’t went full-tilt, drape the house in pumpkins.
Yet.
I’m still flirting.
Moby is watching over it all and if I can find some fall branches, he’ll stay out. I live on the coast 365 so he can too.
If you recall, my abandoned house (the great branch cutting location) has tenants now. They are so cramping my fall decorating style. How selfish… it’s all about me after-all.
See? Aren’t they perfect? Extra treasured now for sure.
I joked that I was going to offer them free, selective gardening services.
Or take up nighttime walks.
I kept it really simple in here.
A little animal print.
Some wood tones.
A favorite candle.
This is definitely my space (though I share) & I’m free to do whatever I like in here.
It’s where I relax and if you catch me on Instagram in the evening, it’s often from this room.
I splurged on some new candles this season and they are smelling ridiculously yummy!!
Pumpkin & spices are floating in the air!
Letting my goldenrod “little things” pillow hang out a bit longer.
It’s one of those see it & it makes you smile kinds things.
I love that darn HELLO pillow and I can’t decide if I like it better on the sofa…
or the chair?
I’m sure I just need a new one for whichever spot loses out.
Yes, that must be it!!
I tried to no avail to spend pillow money at HomeGoods but all the fall pillows were long gone. So sad. I won’t be caught with my pillow-pants down for Halloween though. I’ve got two cutie-spookies ready to go. Just holding out putting them up until a decent time. Like maybe October 1st.
We’ll see. I’m not known for my willpower.
Here you’ll be getting a peek at the farm tables replacement.
It’s not a forever replacement. We plan to build a perfect-fitting, exactly what we want piece for this space, but first, we need to get that shop built. So this will do for now.
I will completely admit I am missing the farm table, not the space it took up… but looking back at last year’s fall photos has me longing for it to decorate. I can not tell a lie. Little bit harder than I thought, just because I loved the look of it.
But I can do hard things. hahaha
Let’s talk about velvet pumpkins. On gold cake stands. This is such an affordable version of a velvet pumpkin and the HomeGoods cake stand has never looked better. It’s like they were made for each other!! Simple, and a fall favorite duo for sure.
The open cabinets have a project that needs to be finished so I kind of glossed over them, and the new table needs the chairs recovered and isn’t really decorated.
In fact, I’m supposed to be sharing that on Tuesday for a fun blogger party (more on that soon), but it’s so different than the farm table, I’m struggling. Table decorating is not my strength at all but I thought I would push myself to try something new’ish.
I really need to talk to my boss about signing me up for these things… 😉
Usually I am soooo frugal, but I’ve been working so much, it seems the only stress-relief I’m indulging in lately is retail therapy and the Cashew’s on my desk! I was weak though, and opened my Decor Steals email… oh who am I kidding?
I open them all.
Well, the shelf with the towel bar had to come live in my kitchen. I mean, is that a perfect fit or what!?
My copper canisters look so cute on it. Fitting place of honor for them, as they were gifted to me from my mother in law. I like them being very front & center.
I also missed-out on most of the dollar spot goodies at Target, but I managed to get some of the tiny acorns. I’m so glad too!! Every Autumn I want some and these were super cheap.
And that is just my price range! The guilt-free range.
Candy Corn is one of the major food groups.
Just ask ELF.
Luckily, I don’t actually like it, it’s too sweet. (and that is coming from a dessert lovah!) Regardless, it still says FALL to me, so it’s a must for nostalgia’s sake.
My not-so-secret craft supply storage is under this skirt. You can see how we built and installed all the shelving [here]. This spot has really evolved and now I’ve got so ample storage in an otherwise dead-space.
We try to make our little house work hard for us.
The candles I’ve picked up recently are so fragrant, my entire upstairs smells delicious.
And I have yet to light one!!
Casper pumpkins. I love you. Nestled in your little linen stacked bed.
You can get a better look at the apothecary cabinet that is adjacent to the built in wood counter [here].
Annnd… that is it!
It’s all I’ve got.
Until tomorrow, when you can tune-in to see if I managed a tablescape, or if I got fired.
Here is the schedule for the FALL Ideas Tour I was talking about!

Shannon,
It all looks so great! I love white and copper, and that orange velvet pumpkin on the gold cakestand is to die for! I have some copper – lots of mine is from flea markets and is the old stuff that really doesn’t shine, but I still like the color and the craftmanship. I’m really looking forward to your tablescape!

My copper is all thrifted, save the two pots from HomeGoods. My mom and I happened upon those one day year and years ago! I know what you are talking about, it’s got such a nice warmth to it!

Salted pumpkin candle? Get out – yum! I’m usually a flirt of all kinds, but I must be slacking.

Love all the touches of fall…especially the little velvet pumpkin. Oh and those little acorns are so cute! I haven’t even thought about what I’m going to do for fall yet…guess I better start soon!
Have a beautiful day.

I love the new colors–very sophisticated and you pull it all together beautifully. As always, I am lost in the details and had to “rewind” a lot to look at everything. Really pretty!

Well HELLO! Ha, you are so cute. Sure is when I’m going to take pictures 🙂
We have our messes. Trust me. Dishes are my most hated chore.
Though lately, I’ve gotten to where I’m loading straight into the dishwasher so I only have dishes in the sink about 50% of the time now.
We shall see how long that lasts. hehe
