–A Little Southern Romance–
I let you know when we last visited that I was going to be traveling to Mobile, Alabama and now I’ve got a moment to tell you why! I was invited to tour a true “Southern Home”… a beautiful, 1906 Arts & Crafts abode that is being renovated. And I’m taking you with me.
I’m going to tuck you right in my handbag! Okay, I’m going to blog about it and share-as-I-go on Instagram, it’s almost the same thing!! I can not wait to get to see inside the beautiful “Ford House” that is being restored. You know how when we all walk and drive thorough neighborhoods, and we really, reeaally want to see inside the homes?
Well we finally get to!!
Esther De Wolde, the CEO of Phantom Screens, has generously invited myself and some other home-crazy bloggers to tour the home. It’s been a dream of her’s to restore a true Southern home and she wants to share the process with all of us. I’m so glad that we get to share a tiny bit in her dream & vision, and that I get to see it in person!!
This is The Ford House
Full of nothing but gorgeous possibilities!!!!
There are going to be a lot of EXCLAMATION points in this post. I’m trying not too… but they just can’t be contained.
It’s going to be a whirlwind trip there & back, and I’ll be gone just a few short days!! Being so far West, the flight will involve a full day just to travel there, but I’ve never been to the South, and the pull of getting to visit for something so interesting was too strong to say no!!
The extra interesting thing is, the house is not done!
So it’s not going to be a “look how pretty everything is” kind of home reveal tour. We are going to get to see it from the beginning, and follow along! That means we get to see the transformation in real-time, seeing the projects, changes, and the finishes Esther will be selecting.
I’ve already had a peek (and you can too!) by following along on social media. But first, I do need to do the blah-blah… the disclosure: Phantom Screens will be sponsoring my travel to Alabama.

You can see things like the EPIC swing Esther is having built for the front porch…
Just go ahead and pick your jaw up off the floor… I had too. haha.
And this lovely beauty here…. she sealed the deal.
Turns out Esther is an aqua lover too?
I know I’m going to bond with her for-sure now. lol!!!!
I leave in exactly one week and it’s starting to feel real now. One long day of travel and I’ll be dusting off my Southern drawl. Just kidding. Can’t wait to hear some beautiful accents, meet Esther, her team… and some of the bloggers I’ve been following, chatting and interacting with for years!!!!
I predict some hugging and squealing.
I don’t know what anyone else will be doing…
