Now that I have worked up the courage to put myself out into the “DIY style/decorator” blog land, I figured it would make sense to share some of my home with you! For no particular reason, I’ll start in our upstairs bath…
Due to being screwed by our contractor “incredibly over budget” on the renovation on the other home on our property (a long story anyone with a bad contractor could empathize with) we had a severely limited budget left to complete the work on our home.
The vanity is solid wood.
It’s got dovetail joints and the drawers open and close like a dream. It’s actually a really nice piece.
I decided to make it work by tearing it apart, sanding, priming and re painting. I installed new euro hinges and new brushed nickle hardware to freshen & update it. I was pretty proud, because I did it all myself.
Pretty much, if it sat still… it got painted!
The walls, the tub surround and the vanity cabinet all received several coats of primer and white paint.
I even painted the counter top.
I decided to add curtains for a little more color and texture.
Plus, it gets way chilly here in the Winter.
If we had a bit more left in the budget, we would have liked some shutter blinds. I spent a lot of time looking at the different interior shutter styles with the intention of getting some nice white wood plantation shutters, but thanks to our contractor we just didn’t have enough money left.
Please humor me and my novice attempt at sewing 😉
Always fun to do the side-by-side!
Basically, my goal was to make this space as bright and clean as I could while changing only the most necessary items.
The big stuff had to stay.

Looks good! We all would have paid to see your golden tub though!
I too would like to know what primer and paint you used for your countertop. I’ve been researching options and am not completely thrilled with what I’ve found thus far.
Thanks, good job!
You did another great job Mrs Fox!
So lovely Shannon!! Well done!!
