Beautifully Affordable Outdoor Patio Furniture
Today I’m sharing how-to get outdoor ready with beautifully affordable patio furniture, because outdoor entertaining season is on the way. And whether that means entertaining yourself, with morning coffee on the deck, an afternoon lounge session with your feet up, or hosting a roaring pool party… it all starts with the basics – seating! Come see my top pick for perching, I can’t wait to show you!
Remember last month when I said The Little Cottage Living Room was one of the projects I’d been most happy with in a long time, but that next month would top it for me? THIS IS THAT PROJECT. After 13 long years, I’ve finally got my dream outdoor patio set and I am in love! We got the Brookbury 5-piece patio set and no pesky snow or rain was going to spoil me sharing it with you. Okay, it almost did. I was starting to worry that water wasn’t going to stop falling from the sky long enough to actually put the cushions on and take pictures. Thankfully, the weather finally cooperated and we had a dry day – cold, but dry nonetheless. A beautiful glimpse that Spring is actually on the way. Hooray!
If you are new here, welcome! I am an Brand Ambassador and I each month I partner with Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart sharing my personal selections, and spotlighting the vast line of furnishings and home decor available in-store and online with all of you! It’s always a favorite post, and we all appreciate the great quality and the affordable prices!
Do you guys love it? I do! I love it so much! I’ve wanted a big, cozy, cushy patio set for such a long, long time. I’ve browsed and browsed and dreamed and I look every. single. year. Alas, I always have hold off for some darn reason or another, and finally… this is our year!
Now, the backyard isn’t really ready for it’s close-up yet. Things were pretty saturated, so I didn’t dare try to power wash everything prior to this “quick, take pictures before it starts raining again” photo session. And our nurseries aren’t stocked with Spring flowers yet…
BUT – Our Walmart is packed with everything Better Homes & Gardens that you need for Spring & Summer living, and I bet your store is too!
They are overflowing with; patio furniture, sun umbrellas, planters and pots, lanterns, string lights, outdoor rugs & pillows… and everything else you can imagine. It gives me hope. And if you’ve got snow on the ground, there is hope for you too!
And I’ll tell ya something…THIS STUFF SELLS OUT crazy FAST.
If you are even thinking about getting a new set this year. Don’t wait.
I didn’t use the biggest font to tell you that lightly. Last year, when I got my mom this super-darling 3-piece set (currently in-stock!), it was sold-out before I even got my post up on the blog! The cushions on my mom’s set are super thick and it looks much more expensive than it was. The Better Homes & Gardens outdoor furniture is really nice. Believe me, I’ve looked everywhere and the quality, for the price, it can’t be beat. I don’t say that lightly.
I knew I wanted a set that was on the larger size, something to accommodate our family gatherings and for when we host our annual Fourth Of July bash. And honestly, I’ve dreamed forever of reading outside and being able to put my feet up and really get comfortable and truly relax!
There is a great selection geared to both dining and lounging. My favorite was this five-piece set which includes the sectional, table and the seat/ottomans. You can even separate the sectional if desired. You know I prize versatility!
(Please excuse the exterior, we are waiting to complete the paint once the weather is safe)
I haven’t exactly decided how I want it to sit on the deck yet. Or even which way I want it to face?
I did make sure to measure carefully though, and it’ll fit on the upper sun deck as well. I love that we have so many options with this set.
I couldn’t help but grab these super-cute wood & metal lanterns from the garden department. They are battery powered and the rope handles will be great for hanging them from a shepherd’s hook too.
You can also get a good look at the realistic, yet weatherproof rattan weave of the furniture body. Oh, and my cute little helper.
Like I said, the configuration possibilities made this set so appealing to me, and I had fun moving things around. The kitties were already claiming spots. Equal parts curious and sun-sleepy.
If you love this set too, the cushions come in tan or grey. With our white shop, white houses, black roofs, concrete & gravel, I thought the grey was the best color choice for us. The deck material will be changing, so I decided to choose based on looking forward, as I expect this set to last for some time.
BONUS – The entire set is UV protected and the cushions are washable!
I had purchased the reversible outdoor rug last year and tucked it aside. I was so happy to see it was available again (I’ll make sure to link it at the end of the post). Coupled with the B&W pillows, and the cabana stripe umbrellas, the grey made perfect sense for us.
The tan is equally pretty though, and there are some super-cute colorful pillow, rug & umbrella options. Tropical, stripes, paisley, floral. So many cute fabrics to choose from! For me, the black & white kept it simple and easy. And I need that right now.
Jimmy found these gorgeous, and oh-so-very-necessary 3-way copper torches while I was busying buying those cool lanterns, and we will fill them with citronella oil. They can be used as a shorter torch for planters and such, and also come with a stand to be used sitting as well!
We bought an additional two that I didn’t un-box yet. We plan to line the pathway down to The Little Cottage with them when the weather is more, stable. The coordinating copper tabletop torch somehow made it into the cart too. In my defense, Mosquitoes love me so we can never have enough citronella burning as far as I’m concerned!
STRING LIGHTS + CUP HOOKS = PURE ENCHANTMENT!
I had big plans for how to hang the new LED cafe lights, but again, the weather put a serious damper on my plans so I’ll share that (with these lights) in my next post! For now, I settled for easy-to-use cup hooks, and we simply screwed them into the underside of the sun deck. They work wonderfully and it took literally 5 minutes to get them hung!
TIP: If you have trouble getting the cup hooks screwed in, simply use a hammer and a large nail to make a quick pilot hole. You can also use the hammer claw to grip the hook to assist those last few turns if your hand isn’t strong enough.
They have THE prettiest glow and they have a lovely warm light. Almost a blush in my opinion, and extra enchanting! They look so pretty from inside the house too, peering out from the French Doors.
Jimmy came home just as I was wrapping-up and we stole a few moments testing out the new set, and thinking about how nice it is going to be to sit out here. Last Summer and late into Fall was bliss and I’ve been looking forward to the beautiful weather again since it left! I can not wait. I bet so many of you, covered in snow right now, can’t wait either! For now, the set landed like this, the rug was rolled up, and the cushions are safely stacked in the shed close by… I’m ready for the sun the moment it starts shining though.
I look forward to surrounding the deck with big pots of Lavender as soon as I can find some. It’s safe from the Deer and does marvelous here. I got smart and hide their favorite snacks up on the sun deck, but I do share the rose (and occasional apples).
Let’s all dream of sunshine tonight! xo Shannon
