Best Fall Porch Decorating Ideas

This week I gathered some of the Best Fall Porch Decorating Ideas for us! I am thrilled to be joining Ashley of Cherished Bliss again for this simple, intimate Seasonal Design Series. Today we will be focusing on decorating our outdoor spaces, and I’ll be sharing lots of pretty porches that add both seasonal charm, as well as beautiful places to sit and soak in the the beauty of the Fall season! 

The air has finally cleared for us here along the Oregon Coast, and we even got some rain, which I am so deeply thankful for! Unfortunately, the combination of the very bad air quality from the fires and the wet of the rain kept me from being able to work outdoors to get my porch ready in time for today’s event. I hope you enjoy the lovely inspiration I was able to gather for your though, with the help of some gracious and talented friends!

My white house loving heart had to feature these two cuties below that I found on Country Living. Smaller scale, BIG on charm! Those door colors are awfully cheerful too. 

PORCH  DECORATING  TIPS

Start With A Clean Slate:

• Remove any lingering decor or paraphernalia from the previous season.

• Clean porch or patio area. Sweep, remove spider webs, hose down or power wash.

• Clean and/or make any paint refreshes or repairs to furniture that is necessary.

• TIP: Fall can be a great time of year to get new patio furniture at a huge savings!

• Fall can also be a great time to paint, as the weather is often the perfect temp! Try a fresh coat of paint or maybe even a new color on your exterior door.

Outdoor Decorating Ideas:

• Natural Elements: Use seasonally available flowers, branches, twigs, wreaths, garlands, pine cones, corn stalks, hay bales, bittersweet, etc… to add color, texture and bring the full Fall feel to your outdoor space. Fresh is fabulous, but don’t count-out a good faux version. Sometimes it takes an upfront investment but quality faux florals last and can make decorating pretty effortless!

• Vintage Elements: Metal cans of all sizes make great flower pots & planters. Perfect painted or with their original vintage graphics.

• Crates & Boxes: Look for wood & metal boxes to stuff with flowers, pumpkins, pine cones… and even fall garlands! You can lace fairy or twinkle lights through any of these fillers for a pretty glow. 

• Add Interest: Use garden art, wrought iron, urns, architectural salvage, bird houses, signage, lanterns, additional lighting and more in your outdoor areas.

I am so eager to get The Little Cottage porch all dolled-up for Fall! We are having a garage sale this coming weekend I’ve been busy purging, pulling and preparing for, and I’m hoping to go pumpkin & mum hunting on Sunday. The guys weren’t able to work on the deck this weekend due to rain, as it’s not safe to use wet power tools (and I kind of like them both)! But they are getting so close. Just about ready to work on the pergola section… and then watch out!!!! I’ll be hanging lights and decorating my lil‘ heart out.
