BOO! A Halloween Mantel At The Cottage
On my agenda for today? House cleaning & laundry.
I got the laundry done.
It began innocently enough…
I started cleaning but then, I accidentally stumbled upon my Halloween tote! After going into my home decor storage room and digging it out. Funny, it was just right there and… trip.
So of course I had to open it!
I’m sure this sort of thing happens to you all the time too!
Because I know it can’t be just me.
Boo.
It’s all spooky & ooky now.
And I’m a happy ghoul.
Girl.
I started by popping a black feather wreath, a ghostly ghoul and a glittery 31 in my big wood tray. I added some fat, black & orange garland. It’s woven with candy corn twinkle lights (I love twinkle lights!) and to finish it off, I flanked everything with two white lanterns stuffed with mini Ball jars full of candy corn.
That is one of the food groups ya know.
Just ask ELF.
I got the glittery 31 at Ross. I was going to make one, I’ve seen several versions that I thought were real cute… but this was soooo cheap I couldn’t pass it up. I got it gosh, weeks & weeks ago. And then I got so busy, I didn’t think I was going to get to decorate for Halloween at all.
I’m so glad I didn’t let that happen.
I really enjoy Halloween. I always have.
Since I was a little girl… all through my teen years, as a young adult, with Austie when he dressed-up and into adulthood! It’s just such a fun holiday.
The being being silly, trick or treating, bobbing for apples, costume parties and the decorating! It would have been a shame to let it go by without doing a little something festive.
And I’m so glad I didn’t because everything feels right now, with a pinch of Halloween in the house.
After I did the mantel, I kind of had ta do the little table in front of it too. I just added my haunted tree, a few punkins and crow to watch over things.
It’s nothing fancy or elaborate.
I didn’t DIY anything… or make a new banner with the Halloween book pages I bought… it was quick & easy.
And that is okay. I did it for me. Not to be “Pinterest” perfect or magazine worthy.
Just for me.
And I had to share it with you!

It looks fabulous, Shannon. I love that you did it for you and it’s STILL Pinterest and magazine worthy! I’m looking forward to decorating for Halloween. I may even start next week. That’s REALLY early for the UK, but it’ll make a nice change from all the early Christmas decorations!

Ooooo, I love every bit of it! I had to laugh when I saw the black crow because when I decorate with them at Halloween my kitties grab them and beat them up and I find them throughout the house! Your mantel, table decorations, everything is just perfect! Love the way you decorate!

Oh my goodness that is too funny! Well, not funny, but… I have two cats, so I get it. hehe.
Thank you so much for the kind comment, I’m glad you like it. I sure enjoy sharing 🙂

Aren’t you glad you ditched the house cleaning? I know I am! I love your spooky and ooky mantel! It’s awesome all lit up and ties in *faboooolously* with your table in front. You go, “ghoul!” 😉

Yes I am. It just wasn’t feeling right (the house) and then it did!! I half cleaned, half worked on a new project today. lol. And now I’ve got a terrible sore throat, so the cleaning might have to wait a little longer. Oh well, I won’t freak-out just yet.
