Cottage Home Fall Tour
Hello! I’m so excited you are here today for my little corner of the Fall Home Tours. We have a great line-up of beautiful tours for you, as well as a wonderful giveaway!! So let’s get started.
Welcome!! I’ve sprinkled Fall here and there and I’m ready to share.
Things a little more snuggly and a little more luxe as we shift from Summer to Fall at the hollow.
We spent the Summer painting our main floor from ceiling to baseboards and installing new hardwood floors. Who would have thought his would have all been possible before we have checked out sites like https://www.weichertcp.com/ for a new home! For anyone looking to buy a house, there will be a lot to think about, but when this is all don properly, you’ll find that it was all worth it and you’ll be happy to finally call a place your home.
We are just now getting everything put back where it belongs. (I’ve still got to paint the hearth surround so please just pretend it’s done, for my sanity) I have to tell you, it feels soooo good to have it all put back together and be sawdust free. There are a lot of pictures, so sit back and scroll. I’m going to let you look, with minimal talking from me. My friend was telling me about how GRP plastic canopies added to the minimal feel to their home. It might be worth checking out.
If you knew me in real life, you would be laughing about now.
Me + minimal talking = it’s never happened before…
There is a first time for everything though, right?
This is our main floor living room. I’m in the mood for for a pretty light look so I didn’t go heavy with the decor. Even on the walls. I just warmed things up a little with the rug, the zebra throw & pillow and some darker accents.
I found that picture at the Goodwill and turned it into a chalkboard, then gilded the frame with gold Organza Shimmer Coat. The “art” is simple and hand written. I have not mastered that crazy-fabulous fancy chalk writing. I just did it too, so I was not about to try for some fantastic Fall poem or saying. I was lucky this turned out passable.
I’ve had the pumpkin colored glass orb forever! The white pillow is from HomeGoods.
It whispered to me and I had to bring it home. So I could pet it.
It’s a Cynthia Rowley, Mongolian Fur.
Again. Just wanted to pet it.
Originally, the pumpkin under the wire cloche sat in the living room, but I stole it for the kitchen table, so you’ll see it again later in the tour. I am always moving stuff about. It didn’t last but a day in there.
If you are a regular at Fox Hollow Cottage, you’ll notice I’ve done away with all the aqua in this room, save the vintage ball jars on top of the entertainment center. Still loving the aqua. It’ll always be in my heart.. but I needed a break.
This wood tray works better for our family, it’s a great catch-all for the remote controls!
I’ve talked about how I’ve been preferring gold to silver lately since our wall color has changed. I’m really enjoying the rich luxe addition it brings to our decor. I dry brushed a little gold on my Fleur De Lis hardware and it just shimmers now.
And the great thing about paint? I can always paint it again when I inevitably change mind!
The lampshade is my latest Goodwill find! Brand new, in the wrapper.
A flocked, velvet brocade shade for only $7.99 – That is my kinda price.
Funny thing, I had just taken the wrapper off a “new” shade I had been saving but this one won out. I asked for help choosing on the Fox Hollow Cottage facebook page and I got more help then I could count.
Thanks again for that!!
Actually, it’s been surprisingly affordable to slide the new gold accents into the decor. I’ve gotten really lucky. Well, that, and I’ve thrown in some diy.

The new black sequin pillow was bought at the end of the season last year. I’ve just been holding onto it for Fall. So it’s new, but it’s not. My little hootie came out to play. I missed them. Last year, since they are white, I cheated at kept them out much longer. It’s nice to see them again. The locker basket holds a giant roll of rope I picked up at a yard sale. I’ve got plans for a big length of it! I’m half done with the project . {winks}
I’m sure you know how that goes.
Next, we’ll take the big walk over to the fireplace and our farm table dining area. Stop and rest if you get tired, we’ll hit the kitchen next and it’s really far away!
I want to stop off at my glitzy-glam frame first. It’s just pretty. And I love it.
I draped the faux concrete statuary with a curtain tie-back because I like the tassel.I thought the coppery gold hues matched pretty well too. To think… I was going to paint that frame when I found it.
The little mercury Glass Lights are from Big Lots | $12.99
Battery operated too, so they go anywhere!
I’m really happy with the lighter, brighter walls and less decor. It feels relaxed and comfortable.
The living room, and that big chair are sort of my spots.
I love the vibe the room has right now.
This little chest was green and I redid it just in time for the tour.
It flows much better now. And I added a touch of gold too! Surprise.
I’ll show you how I did these Washi Tape pumpkins later in the week.
I see more in my future. So fun. So easy!!
No more burlap and paper sack leaves…
The burlap and tin can garland is gone too. For now.
I changed up the mantel for the tour too!
I just love my chalkboard paint wall above the fireplace. It’s so fun.
I think I need a few more of those tie-back! I really like them on the dining chairs and I love anything that is temporary and easy to change.
On to the kitchen next…
Did you rest up?
What’s this? More chalkboard surfaces. Why YES. It is.
I’m still enamored with the chalkboard painted open cabinets in my kitchen.
They started off with doors, you may read all about that and see how they used to look here, and it If you want to check out how I stenciled with chalk on the open cabinets you can read here.
More owls. Ya just gotta love those qt’s!!
… and the squirrels. Can’t forget about the squirrels.
(their feelings will get hurt)
I’ve got lots of pumpkins to play with in the coming weeks. They go fantastically with my kitchen cabinets don’t you think? My friend told me that Mr Kitchens does some great custom kitchen cabinets that had did some work for her home in preperation for halloween to match her pumpkins.
They are scattered all about.
There is a bit more to share but I’m running low on time and it’s getting very late. I think I’ll wrap this post up and save the sun room for another time.
You need to get on to the next stop anyhow… and don’t forget the enter the giveaway before you leave!!

Oh, and I bought some of those lights at Big Lots, too!
Awesome! Aren’t they cute!?
Shannon–I just love all your touches (I believe I took your aqua vibe!) but you cracked me up when you said your little hootie came out to play. You have no idea what my frst thought was!
You can tell me in a PM. LOL!!!!!!
LOVE it!!! Your fall mantel is AMAZING!!! One of my favorites!!! Love so many parts of your home!!! Thanks for sharing with us and happy to be on the tour with you!! Hugs!! Claire
When my mom and I were talking this morning, I opened up your page and told her to go visit you, then I forgot! I’ll be right over 😉
What a tour, girlfriend!!! I just love your home. Those new floors look amazing….so clean! All of the cottage fall touches are so warm and inviting. Love your chalk art. ~Christy
Back at ya! Your porch was.. WOW! I pinned that beauty and it’s traveling around showing off now!!
Oh everything looks so beautiful, Shan! I can’t believe how different your whole home looks without the aqua & with the hardwoods. So pretty.
It feels grown up. Uh-oh 😉 Thanks G! We are loving the floors so much! Still can not believe they are ours!?
Oh, Shannon, everything looks absolutely beautiful! You’ve done a wonderful job of making things look fallish without going overboard–everything looks lovely and very welcoming and restful. Gorgeous!
Your blog name always makes me think of Tom T. Hall. “Songs of Fox Hollow” was one of my favorite albums when I was growing up. We listened to it over and over again–I knew every word to every song!
Thank you, very much! Tom T. Hall… not familiar? I’ll have to google it!
Your home looks so nice and lovely Shannon!! Thanks for sharing!
Blessings,
Vesna
Wow, I am just blown away that I do not see your aqua…just the mason jars. I am on the floor! Everything looks beautiful and the gold did the trick with warming everything up. Love those floors…it really made a huge difference didn’t they?! I know this is only the beginning…it’ll become even more beautiful as time goes by. You’ll be having lots of fun, I know!
Love your tour. Quick question, what is the flooring material you used? Is it a wood or tile? I’m going home after work to get the galvinized bucket to put it in the fireplace, and fill it with leaves, branches and pumpkins!
It’s hard wood, from LUMBER LIQUIDATORS. Virginia Mill Works. Knob Hill Birch 🙂
Thanks for the lovely home tour! Your home is gorgeous!
Wow! I love your home. I really like all your owls and that black sequin pillow is gorgeous. I want to wear it! lol. Great tour. 🙂
I know right? But a pillow always fits 😉
Ah.. That was everything I hoped it would be. I’m still LOVING the flooring. I just want to glide my hands across it!
On another note – I think I need some chalkboard paint!!!
Brandi
