Cozy Cottage Christmas Living Room
H e l l o! My name is Shannon, if you are visiting from my Christmas Living Room Tour mate at My Fabulous Life, it’s so nice to see you here at our home.
I’m happy to be a part of this super-fun Christmas Room Series all about the holiday living room… so, w e l c o m e to our cozy cottage Christmas living room.
I can’t believe I’m going to type this… but my husband and I, well, we are empty nesters. Yikes. It’s a really new thing for us, and it feels kinda surreal that just the two of us live here now. Our 1920’s cottage style bungalow has been a perfect house for our little family, and we love it so much.
Being an older home, our house is surprisingly open. Upon entry, you can continue forward and enter our kitchen and the sun room, or turn left and come on into the living room.
Because our house is tiny, it can’t help but be cozy. Which is a word I think a smart realtor made up. hehe. It’s just a nice way to say little.
I kept our Christmas decor a bit on the simpler side this year, depending on lots of mini-trees and greenery to help set a holiday mood.
Instead of decorating our big, full-size tree like I did last year, I opted for a smaller, flocked one. And I liked it so much naked, I went with all white and silver ornaments as a compromise to none. It’s got 600 lights on it… and I’m just all about that glow this year. It’s really cute in person and I really love it!
I don’t have presents wrapped yet, and while I’m sure the tree would look more festive with pretty packages piled up under it… there was no way I was wrapping “fake” ones for photos, I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. I hope I’m not fired?
Of course, there is no shortage of pillows… because, this is “me” we’re talking about.
I prefer HomeGoods for my pillow picking. They never disappoint. You might also find a cozy throw, or six. There is no chance of freezing at our place! Plus, this is my snuggle up TV spot and I like a selection.
I’m loving my make-shift coffee table. I gave my proper Navy coffee table the holidays off. Mostly because it was throwing off my Christmas mojo, being all “navy blue” and everything… so I popped my round pallet wood topper on an XL crate and I was good to go. Nice and easy, no stress, and goes fine with my super casual look.
My side table got a Pepsi crate (I’m actually a Diet Coke girl, but I can never find a COKE crate?), some Dollar Tree candles and mini trees and a rustic star. Again, easy and no-stress!
Oh, and a few vintage ornaments. They add extra shine.
The room is just extra cozy and casual this year. Ready for Christmas movies and lots of relaxing!
And maybe a smooch…

It looks absolutely charming. And I love the fact that you’ve made something small into something desirable. I think it’s great when we take what we have and enjoy it. Good work! 🙂
I am curious. How do you store and where do you store all your seasonal decor items? All those wreaths, trees and pillows would take up so much space, I would think. I’m asking because I face this issue. 🙂

Well thank you so much. We make our little house work hard 😉
About the storage. We have a 3 bedroom house, and I decided to use one for decor storage because I could. Here is what it looks like – https://foxhollowcottage.com/2014/03/home-decor-storage-room-reveal-with-tips-and-ideas-to-get-organized.html This worked for me, as we don’t have a garage for storage that many have.

Hi Shannon,
Very cute cottage. In my opinion too many trees. They seem to block out some of the cuter items….HAPPY HOLIDAYS to ALL!!!!!!!
