Crushing On Lavender Topiaries

Crushing On Lavender Topiaries

Lavender Topiary Tips and Inspiration

So here I am, busy-busy… buzzing around, cleaning, organizing and purging, all while popping on and off Facebook for quick breaks and to check in, when I see a gorgeous Lavender Topiary photo on a friends page. I was so drawn in, and I thought I recognized it. Sure enough, I’d pinned it [right here!] the week before. I am most definitely crushing on Lavender topiaries. So much so that I gathered some great info on all the best tips and practices on how to grow this all types of Lavender successfully, indoors!

I’m a big Lavender lover, though I prefer the real thing. I don’t really care for the artificial scent in products like candles, room sprays, etc… it’s just not that appealing to me. I super love the live pants though! Our yard is full of it — we’ve got English, Spanish and French Lavender profusely scattered about. And as an added bonus, the Deer are not interested in it at all! I love to cut it, bring it in and enjoy it. And it dries so prettily too. Growing them indoors year would be such a huge treat. I definitely want to give it a shot!!

And I’m sure you remember seeing Hymns and Verses gorgeous photo, also featuring beautiful Lavender topiaries here on the blog last week!

Well it got me thinking? Can you grow Lavender in the house? Because if so, I’d love to have a few Lavender topiaries of my own! So I did what anyone would do when faced with a question. I did my hair, put on makeup, a bra… got dressed, slipped some shoes on, grabbed my purse and…

Well of course I googled it.

And this is what I found; a great article from Everything Lavender [click here] with all the best tips and practices on how to grow this beauty successfully, indoors! She mentions that French Lavender usually does the best for indoor potting applications. The site is rich with Lavender tips!!

For indoor potting, she covers the need for:

  • Proper soil
  • Proper lighting
  • Proper watering
  • Good ventilation

I should have known! If Miss Mustard Seed approves, you know it’s a good idea.

While my Lavender is all planted in the ground, there is plenty of potted inspiration for you below.

Rustic Farmhouse mentioned in her post, that she picked up her plants for under $10 at Walmart… so you know where I’m headed. And yes, I’ll actually put on the bra, shoes… etc… but don’t expect makeup. I’m a busy girl.

I have to get my hands on some lavender plants. They look so pretty. 🙂 Do you think they’ll do well in warm humid climates?

Nicol, There are many varieties. Check your zone and compare for the species.
Also, usually what you find at your local nursery, tends to be suitable to your climate 🙂

<3 Lavender, too! (we might be somewhat clonish… we gravitate to the same items!) 🙂 If I was planning to sit a spell in our home, I would pot some in a minute, because the bees bother me outside! 🙂
