Farmhouse Kitchen Vintage Wood Bakery Sign
Hello friends! I hope you all had a beautiful & blessed Mother’s Day. Before I tell you about mine, I want to show you the Farmhouse Kitchen Vintage Wood Bakery Sign I made! I painted a few things last week to take down to Vintage 101, a great store here in town Jim & I have a booth at, and I remembered (for a change) to snap a few photos before I ran everything down! I fell in love with it in this spot, and I know I am definitely going to have to paint myself one.
But I was a good girl, and took this one down to the booth as intended. I’m so bad… I want to keep everything… like, really. Everything! hahaha
I love, love, love playing around & styling photos. I may not be the best, but I truly enjoy the process, and trying to convey a mood or feeling to “tell a story” with my photographs. Small vignettes are my favorite. I’m always trying to get better, so my blog is more enjoyable for you when you visit!
I don’t have as much time as I’d like to, to do this. I could just play & fiddle… and fiddle & play. Trying to perfect all the pieces of the pretty puzzle. The items, textures, layers and lighting.
Do you ever get up in the morning, and then whoosh, it’s time to go to bed? Sometimes… I wonder if my day secretly got sucked into a black hole??
The little galvanized shelf I’ve got in the kitchen right now is the perfect size to play with. There is just enough room on it for a few goodies. It’s the perfect amount of space, that you change the look quick & easy. And… it’s holds really useful items at the ready!
I took the opportunity to add my super-delish Finding Home Farms Maple Syrup to the photo mix! I’ve been friends with Laura, from Finding Home Farms, since I first started blogging, years & years ago! Her family hand crafts this syrup in the Hudson Valley region of New York, and it’s lovingly made. As well as being certified 100% organic.
But what I really know… is that when the boys spoiled me with thick homemade French toast, fluffy scrambled eggs & beacon for breakfast… my French toast tasted sublime topped with it! I found it full of complex notes, but utterly pure tasting. Like sweet & savory sunshine in a bottle.
I did control myself though. I didn’t pull an ELF and drink straight from the bottle.
(I love the tiny bit of B&W hounds-tooth check on the packaging)
The day was windy but beautiful, and we spent part of it with my mother in law. With full tummies, we skipped lunch and later made a grand BBQ dinner. The kitchen was buzzing! The boys are both relaxing, as I write this. I’ll sign-off in a second, but wanted to share my Mother’s Day gift from Jim.
Isn’t she pretty? I sure think so!! Jimmy knows I’ve had my eye out for a vintage wardrobe for a long, long time. Well, he found this one, contacted the seller, and took me to look at it late last week. It was a yes. And we brought it home. I told him it was the perfect Mother’s Day gift, and to please not buy me anything else. The real gift to me, was that he really pays attention to what I like, plus he made the arrangements to drive to go get it, after having already put in a full day at work! He has been so busy. Putting in long days at his job, and then laboring after work on nights & weekends, to complete our workshop. I really appreciate everything he does for me and our family!!
This pretty little lady will be living in The Little Cottage [you catch up here & here if you need too] and I will most definitely be painting her! I’m 99.9% sure the color will be white. Because, hello? we are talking about me here. The Queen of “it has to go with everything”. I think she needs a name. I’d love suggestions!
~ Thanks for spending some of your day with me!! xo Shannon

I LOVE that little galvanised shelf! And as for your new wardrobe *sigh*!! I need 2 of those lovelies to go into the alcoves of my bedroom which would mean I could then discard the hideous mirrored floor to ceiling sliding things that are currently there but one thing that worries me, is how the heck I would get them up the stairs & into my bedroom!
Can’t wait to see your wardrobe painted!

Thank you! It’s the perfect size to play with 🙂 Oh you do!! Good luck, finding two that match would be harder I’m sure.
Luckily, I’ve got no stairs involved in this one. Yay! Just taking it from the workshop over to The Little Cottage when it’s finally ready for furniture.

You should call her Victoria. I do look forward to the blog when you reveal her new look.

BELLE, she looks like a princess! I love naming things, and this is a lovely addition to the Little Cottage. I miss my wardrobe we had in VT every time I see one. White is good… stencil of rose spray would be awesome too. Have fun!

I know!! Me too. That is a good one. I bet that is hard. I still miss things from our California house. But mostly, that was all my outside stuff like our brickwork and garden. Have a great day!! ~Shannon
