My {little bit of} Fall Mantel
As much as I love it when it properly arrives…
Fall is a hard season for me sometimes.
Being here in the Pacific Northwest, it rains.
Lots.
We had a long, wet Spring.
We finally got some SUNSHINE and >>> whoosh...
Now it’s Fall.
So I went pretty simple & light on the Fall decor.
I’ll whoop it up come Halloween and Thanksgiving will be more lush.. but for now this is as Fall as I am willing to get!
I’m just not ready to let go of the sunshine
and admit the season is changing.
I picked up this mini urn over the Summer at a thrift store.
A set of two actually. They had some icky floral arrangements in them. I ripped those out, scrubbed them up and set them aside.
It was fun to feel like I had something “new” to play with since I had not decorated with them yet.
The thrifted vases got a shabby, distressed finish after a
quick coat of Maison Blanche paint in Cobblestone.
These are my Fall leaves from last year!
No kidding. I saved them.
Thank goodness I’ve got home decor storage.
I really didn’t want to part with them.
This is the first time I have officially decorated since
(Best $150 bucks we ever spent!)
It was a joy to be able to put anything I wanted
on the deep mantel and the finished hearth.
That’s my frugal Fall Mantel.
I shopped my home and completed the mantel without spending any money.
The little hooties are from last season.
Budget priced at Ross.
(they really should start paying me. lol)
I did get to use the basket I got at Hobby Lobby in California when I went done in June. I was saving it for Fall.
So it’s sort of new, but not.
enough burlap in it to make the cut.
It makes it really versatile.
I’m still very much enjoying it!
Hope you’re having perfect Fall weather!!

The mantel is such a challenging spot! You nailed it! I love how it’s simple but inviting and cozy at the same time. One question that it’s been on my mind for a few days now…all around blog land people are decorating for fall, when do you guys decorate for Halloween?, just curious =0).

Shannon it’s very pretty. This year I am really liking the simple mantles. I like the whooshed mantle too, but I think for the beginning of fall simple is perfect.
