Farmhouse Kitchen Island Cart
Today I’m sharing the awesome multi-use kitchen island cart I got from the Better Homes & Gardens line at Walmart! It was affordable, and simple to put together. It’s got a weathered wood finish, the top has a concrete vibe, and it’s on wheels! Which makes it ultra versatile and easy to re-position. I love hardworking, versatile pieces… and it’s even got a reversible shelf that doubles as wine storage.
Hello and welcome to the cottage! Today I’m sharing my latest completed assignment with Better Homes & Gardens. This month, the focus was on family, and creating a relaxed space to enjoy and make memories together. Well, my family loves to eat! And I’m always trying to tweak our kitchen space to better function for us, so I welcomed the challenge.
I decided on the Modern Farmhouse Multi-Purpose Cart to help out with this, and it’s been perfect!
We already put it through it’s paces for our big 4th of July bash, and the traffic flow in the kitchen was vastly improved (the farm table is now in front of the fireplace). Using it as a kitchen island, it definitely got an A+ from me. If you follow me on Facebook & Instagram, you got sneak peeks of it when I was wishing you all a happy Independence Day.
For today though, I decided to use it as a snack bar!
I’m doing lemonade, popcorn and candy for a family movie night while Austin is home visiting. He was definitely sneaking ‘props’ while I was trying to take pictures to share. Just like old times. It’s so nice having my little candy-snatcher home!
Adding a tray to a bar stool gives you an instant mini table!
I love this trick and use it all the time.
I got the multi-purpose cart a few weeks ago, and easily put it together by myself, in about 2 hours. Like the other pieces I’ve put together from the Better Homes & Gardens line, it went together beautifully and it’s got a nice weight to it. The body looks like weathered barn wood and the top is laminate, but has a slight texture and looks like concrete!
The first shelf flips over, so you can use it as a shelf or you can use the slotted side, for wine bottle storage.
I opted for the shelf so I could have two shelves for storage. I may have gone a bit overboard with the Tootsie Rolls….
Austin will be home again soon for his 21st birthday and I know we are going to load it up for his party. Yes, I just typed “21st Birthday”. I can’t believe it!!
I stacked popcorn bowls and lemonade glasses in the galvanized two-tier shelf.
On the counter behind the cart, I set up the candy bar.
This would also be a great set-up for a birthday or get together. I can see a sundae bar, and so many possibility.
Plus, it’s easy to move around, since it has wheels! I could even push it out onto the deck and use it as a real bar! Especially with that slotted bottle holder shelf option.
But today, it’s all about movies and snacks!
The galvanized serve-caddy set is perfect for our family of 3!
When it’s time to serve up, you can get your popcorn, drink… and your personal bucket-o-candy.
If you’ve got kids. This is great because everyone can have the same exact thing… and amount. lol!
The galvanized trays are great for getting your goodies over to the TV.
Now we’ll just need to agree on a movie!

I got mine very recently, but they were an in-store only item. No shipping on this one. Not sure why? Other than it was heavy! Luckily my hubby was off and went to the store with me.

Cindy I found the glasses at HomeGoods, and the straw caddy was an estate sale find, for ten cents! We just ran it through the dishwasher to sterilize it. Happy Summertime 🙂
