Happenings At The Hollow 7
Happenings At The Hollow 7 Hello my foxy friends! I've been meaning to write this for some time, knowing that I really needed to touch-base with you all, and kind of let you know what's going on with me. It's been almost 5 years since I did a 'Happenin...

My husband had a knee replaced a few years ago. He is now pain free, with respect to the knee. Best way to get back to normal is do the rehab. Good luck with the surgery and happy healing.

Thank you Lenora 🙂

I have had both knees and both hips replaced. You will be glad you did it. It takes away your pain immediately and you will regain much more mobility and stamina. The worst part of the surgeries for me was boredom while waiting to heal. I hope you can have your knee replaced soon.
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Well you are just a warrior! Thanks for the great report 🙂
And for the well wishes!
Judi H. says
Don’t worry. You will feel so much better after your knee is done. I live in a 55 and over park and just about everyone here has had something replaced. My 91 year old neighbor just had a total hip replacement as did our 61 year old son-in-law. He was in the hospital one night❣️. I have not had any replacements yet but, lots of my close friends have had their knees done. From what they say it is most important to keep moving after it is done. They are all doing great now. Best wishes to you.
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
I’ve heard that being diligent with your PT is key, thank you!
Ruth says
I certainly have empathy for you. No cartilage in either knee or either shoulder makes for constant pain. I am not a candidate for surgery due to DVT and pulmonary embolisms. Shots don’t help either. I try to ignore pain by reading and enjoying your post and others to do with decorating. I am much older than you but am planning to build a new house and love decorating. I will just have to tell others what I want done. I hope you find relief soon and are able to keep the wonderful post up. Praying for you.
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Ruth I still do everything I can and mostly ignore it was well. I’m so sorry you aren’t finding any relief. I know that is hard!
I’m so happy you have such exciting things coming up to help keep you mind off of it. I hope that you can get some pain relief somehow 🙂
Karen says
Shannon, I am sending my wish for your return to perfect health in the perfect time frame. Also wishing you also peace and love.
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
THANK YOU! That’s such a beautiful wish 🙂
Jacinta says
Good luck….I’ve heard it’s the best thing ever. I have been told i’ll Also need a knee replacement down the line …so I’m interested in how you get on. I’ll light a candle and say a prayer for you.
God bless

Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Thank you Jacinta 🙂 You are so kind. I hope when it’s time for you, they’ve made even more advancements!

Hi Shannon… I had right knee replaced five years ago this month. You will. E so happy to not have that pain anymore. Just do what they tell you and you will. E fine. I have been waiting for two years here in Canada for my left knee. It is now scheduled for Sept 12. It is getting worse all the time. I hear ya, it is very difficult to loose after the everyday chores. My sister has had two done and hers is a bit better than mine, but you would never know she had it done. Lives in two story house and zips right up the stairs. Good luck with the pinched nerve, have had that as well.
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Thank you, all these personal accounts make me feel so good! I didn’t even know I ahd a pinched nerve? My knee was numb during PT and some investigating discovered it. I’m just waiting now. Thanks again!! Shannon
Marie Batson says
Dear “Foxy Girl”, Shannon, I will certainly be keeping you in my prayers for a full recovery and activity. I understand how difficult it is in a two story home though I am fortunate to have a bedroom and bath on the main floor (and my laundry as well) I have dealt with pinched nerves before and not fun but had mine remedied with chiropractic adjustments. I suffer from osteoporosis and degenerative discs. As a retired R.N.
I have seen wonderful results from knee replacements and helped my older sis through two of them. The most important step is to keep doing the required exercises and physical therapy afterward. Try not to stress about what projects must be done as your health comes first and you are lucky to have loved ones to help you afterward. Do keep us posted on your circumstances. (I have started using CBD oil capsuls and lidocaine pain patches along with infra red light in place of narcotic pain meds) Best of luck!
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
I am hoping for the same remedy, I was unaware of any pinched nerves and didn’t even realize it.
I will be diligent in my PT afterwards, and before too.
I will keep you all in the loop. I know it’ll take me time to get back to it all 🙂

Inhave had both knees replaced and it was a very good experience for me, but I was going to the gym way before and I had a very good doc. I was back at the gym riding the bike after a month. before surgery I couldn’t walk the mall ad like you I overcompensated with the other leg to the point that my achilles tendon bulged. But today I can do everything. Ihad the surgery when I was around 50
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Hi!! I just turned 50 in January. Love hearing that you are younger too. I had no idea I even had a pinched nerve? Waiting for the next steps now. I’m so glad you are doing well!!! – Shannon
Joan Prevett says
If you haven’t already, try to get into the water for some aqua training. Very easy on the joints and will help with recovery when the time comes. Good luck to you!
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Joan, I was doing water aerobics with a friend but we gave it up because the pool was so cold we just couldn’t take it anymore.
Thank you!!
Suzanne says
Most of the older ladies in our church have had knee replacements and they are as good as new! (and they are a lot older than you). The recovery is a bit lengthy but can be speeded up if you follow the protocol diligently. My older Aunt was recovered in about three weeks, which was great. Will be praying for you. Of course, we are interested, so keep us posted. 🙂 Don’t have anxiety about it, but look forward as a solution which will work for you.
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
I know I’m young for it. I’ve had some accidents that helped it along I’m sure (thrown from a car for one).
I will be careful to do all my PT as instructed 🙂
Thank you so much – xo
Tammy says
My sis-in-law had both knees done at the same time and she did fantastic. Her recovery was uneventful and she says that it was the absolute BEST decision that she has ever made. I work in healthcare and am amazed at the strides that are being made in joint replacement!!
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Thank you Tammy, this is so good to hear!!
