I’m Going Grey and I Love It! –
I’m going grey… but like Martha Stewart say’s “It’s a very good thing”.
I love my new grey door!
Note to self: stretch to use a word other than “love”. Am I the only one sick of it? I bet not!
I… a-door my new grey door? Nah, too obvious!
How about, “My door is now grey, just like the radicals in my otherwise blonde hair”.
Okay. That has a nice ring.
All silliness aside. My cottage-y green door is now grey.
And I like it mucho, mucho-much.
Very pleased that we finally got a peek of sunshine (because flash is no-bueno for pictures) and I was able to snap some photos so I could share the new color!!
Spring tends to be very, very WET here in the Pacific Northwest, and with the wet comes grey. And not a good grey like my new door color. Not good at all!! It’s dark & gloomy… and while I mostly ignore it, taking project pictures becomes a real challenge.
A blogger problem for sure. haha.
Thank you all again for your really great suggestions on colors!! I weighed them thoughtfully. You can see all the colors I “tried on” here in this post: How To Try A Paint Color Without Painting Or Buying Samples.
Like I said, the exterior of the door is black, and while I like it a lot, I didn’t think it was a good fit for inside. My house is small, with low ceilings in this room, and I didn’t feel like the space could handle black here. I wanted something that wouldn’t be too bold and would flow a bit more.
… and that is why I didn’t select any of the aqua shades either.
As much as I was crazy for the Peacock Plume!! Right now, with the present decor, it looked reallllly good. It’s just not versatile enough for my switch it up on a whim nature.

It’s so, sooooo very nice having this area of our home open, now that the farm table is in the kitchen. I don’t regret selling the Broyhill set at all. I’ve got much more versatility now that I’m not saddled with two, full size dining room sets. It was great for a time, but that time is passed.
I played around a bit with the a new rug & pillow I picked up while shopping with my mom. Whom I miss!! I got spoiled having her here!! You know we hit HomeGoods and the pillow isle was plentiful!!
I’m sure this area will change frequently until I settle on something.
For about five minutes. {wink wink}
It’s the perfect spot to get to play with and I know I’m going to have a lot of fun with it!!
I actually ended up painting the door that very same night after trying paint colors on!! When the Classic French Grey came up, and I tried it on, I knew it was a winner! (I always fall back on neutral, neutral… neutral for the BIG stuff.) Once I remembered that duh!… I had a neutral grey paint in my stash from when I did the laundry/bathroom combo, I got busy. AND, it’s no VOC so indoors, at night, with the windows & doors closed would be no problem. I’ll share my painting tips for doors when I get home. They often have so many details it can take forever, but I busted this one out, fast!!
It’s Saturday night, I’m wrapping this up, and I’ll be radio dark here on the blog until I get back from my trip! I hope you will follow me on Instagram!!
I’ve got some long travel days ahead, and even though I loaded my Kindle up to the gills, I sure would like to share and visit during my travels and while I’m on my adventure!!
Take care now, and remember to…
Enjoy The Little Things
Like hugs, smiles, sunny days and of course… cute pillows!!

It looks fabulous Shannon! The perfect accent with colour without going over the top – I love the brighter colours too but the grey can work well as you switch out other colours.

The grey looks great for your door and nice light entry. Such a pretty space. I really really *like* the bike on the mantel. Such a great piece! Safe travels!

I “like” it too {wink wink} Thanks so much!! Getting all my tiny bottles together. Man, you don’t realize how many little things you use, until you have to pack them. And have them flying friendly.
