More Summer Decor and a DIY Paint Makeover
.
Do you know how hard it is not to type… “If you build it…”?Â
Hard.
Really hard.
Jim and I made these great console style tables for our last show, and I accidentally kept one.
On accident.
The natural wood patina is just loverly. It’s aged & weathered. Practically perfect!
It really is… but I was wanting a lil’ freshness for the Summer season.Â
So lucky me, I just ran my booty down to the shop and got another.Â
Job perk!
Everlasting is a pretty, fresh white. Ahh white. Goes with everything. And a personal go-to favorite.Â
(See basically every other painted piece in my entire house.)
Hey, it works. I can move anything, anywhere, and it matches!
While my table isn’t fine furniture, the chalky finish paint worked like a charm. It’s fast. You don’t have to pre-prime. (or sand if you’ve got a pre painted piece) and that makes it easy to use. Plus, no smell. The coverage was good and I know for many people, it’s convenient to be able to grab at a major retailer. It’s carried at stores like Home Depot, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn and Micheal’s.Â
Alas…Â I can’t keep two.Â
Not even on accident.Â
Even though you’re seeing it temporarily tucked against the wall there, I’ll have to choose natural or painted?
Oh. I got really crazy and added Primitive as an accent on the legs.Â
I know. WOW!
It’s like an episode of Color Splash with David Bromstad.Â
While you are hear, I just have to tell you.
It is so fun to share projects, decorate, take pictures… and create little vignettes. I just stinking love it!! And I am SO glad and appreciative that you care, and come by to see what trouble I’m getting into. I mean that with my whole heart!!
So what do you think? Painted or Au Natural?
Or should I ask Moby?
Nah… I’m sure he’d pick some sort of blue.

Love your room! I like it painted, but two tone would be great too. Love the whale basket….so cute!!
I am so lucky! My husband loves the silver patina to the wood tone table, so we are keeping at the little cottage. I can flip flop and play with both that way!!
Absolutely gorgeous Shannon, both the table and the paint!
THANK YOU!!!!
All my favorite colors!! That’s an awesome table 🙂 and that whale!!
I love that you painted the legs a different color. So pretty!
It’s subtle but I liked it too. THANKS 🙂 I added a little something to it after the post, I’ll share next time I fluff things up in there 😉
I would’ve accidentally kept it too! I love it both ways, so I’m no help. 🙂
Aren’t we all just terrible.
I would like one of everything.
In the world.
hahaha
Happy holiday weekend (almost)
Would love to make one for a new chair I bought! Will you be sharing the instructions? It lloks pretty simple but I am just getting started with my addiction to chalk paints.! Love what you did with that beachy look!!! thanks Deb
Very simple to use. Start with a clean dry surface, and paint (: You can practice on something small first to get the feel of the flow of that paint and how much you need to apply, I usually do two coats, sometimes you need three with a white paint. (very common) Wishing you luck! Have fun!
I just adore that room and don’t get me started on Moby!!! He’s a cutie… I can’t pick which one I like better… But, I will say I do love me some American Decor Chalky paint…
HI Lynn! That new piece you are working in is soooo pretty. You find great stuff!!
I know. Moby. I love him too <3
Sigh….I adore that room..I like white or even a turquoise blue like Mobie would suggest. Have a wonderful weekend Shannon!
Thanks Kim! I think I might need to try some aqua on one headed for the booth, and have it accidentally live in my house for the Summer 😉 Moby would like that.
Where did you buy that darling whale planter basket? I just love it!
That is a Birch Lane find, and it’s on sale, right now!!
Worth every penny. He is the highlight of the room for sure, and makes ya smile 🙂
The painted table works best in your family room, which is beautifully decorated by the way. If it were me, I’d keep both consoles, the white one for your family room and the bare one for your patio area, but that’s just me 🙂
You made me laugh today, Shannon. I wish I would quit procrastinating and just paint already! 🙂
Go paint now!
That is an order 😉
At this time, I prefer the natural. Two years ago I would have said the white. But, if you keep the natural and get sick of it, you can always paint it white. Win, win!
You are a smart lady.
Or, I could sweet talk my hubby into a new one 😉
hahaha
That I think you should do, anyhow!!!
What a beautiful table Shannon. I like it painted but I loved it natural. It is gorgeous wood! But with that said, the fresh white looks perfect in your lovely family room.
(I think so too)
Just need to figure out how I can keep both to swap around.
LOL!!!!!!!!!
Here’s how you do it; you get all sentimental about parting with the tables, either one of them, and then ask him for a third, and he won’t mind you keeping both. Getting the third, tho, you are on your own. You may have to get “creative” with the hubby for that one! LOL
I know… I am so bad. SO bad!
Now, I’m scheming a aqua version, just for “Summer” and then pop it in the booth.
Good plan right?
hahahaha
Thanks for stopping in Judy!!
And I LOVE the white table but the one that is Au Natural looks perfectly at home right where it is. I think you should leave it natural. Its simple beauty:)
Thank you. You are no help. 🙂 Hahahaha.
As bad as me. I am a terrible picker.
This table is so cute! I love your whole room! Everything about it is beautiful:)
Thank you!!!!
