My Husband Is Spilling All My Secrets!
And it’s an epidemic!! All the husbands are talking!!
I must have had a momentary lapse in judgement, because I have joined in with a crazy group of bloggers who thought it would be a great idea to let our husband’s spill all the juicy details of what it’s like to live with us, and our blog antics!
Why I agreed to this I’m not sure? On top of it all, I told Jimmy to answer as truthfully as possible and try to say the first thing that came to his mind. I guess I’m just blonde like that 😉
– Here we go… unedited and unrestrained. Lord help me!
Q- What is your favorite project Shannon has done, and why?
A- The striped wall treatment in the downstairs bathroom. It looked really fresh and bright.
Anything would have been an improvement though…
(click on the pic to visit the before & after post)
.
Q- What is your least favorite, and why?
A- When she painted the fence board counter-top from the original worn aqua finish, to white.
.
This was a project that we often commented on when we would close up the house at night and head down to bed.
I didn’t realize he was so attached to the color. I felt bad!
(click on the pic below to see how we built this counter, from free fence boards!)
THEN NOW
.
Q- What is the one creative item or tool that Shannon cannot live without?
A- His first answer, was the vacuum. Realizing that was not a creative item, he answered the computer.
Me- I guess he sees it as an extension of my work? I do love a clean floor and vacuum a ton.
.
Q- What is your biggest pet peeve about Shannon in the real world or the project and decorating realm?
A- I wish she was ready to go. On time. No, “five more minutes“.
Me- No comment 😉
.
Q- If you could take Shannon on a vacation anywhere, where would she want to go?
A- Hawaii.
Me- He is correct.
.
Us in Hawaii having the best coconut shrimp EVER at a food truck.

.
Q- Shannon finds $100. What does she do with it?
A- Try to find the owner, if no luck, she would tuck it away for the next junking adventure!
Me- He knows me so well.
.
Q- What is YOUR favorite room in your house and why?
A- My workshop. It’s my space where I can relax and do whatever I want.
Me- Um honey? the workshop isn’t in the house. Dudes, he is so in love with that shop!!
.
A- Creativity is messy, but for the most part blogs show the pretty picture. Can you tell us how Shannon is a secret slob?
Q- She hates to do dishes.
Me- Again, he knows me so well.
.
Q- Name a project or decorating adventure that you thought would be a flop but was fabulous?
A- The fence board counter in the sun room. I just didn’t know how that was going to turn out but Shannon and I went for it. It’s my favorite project.
Me- Really feeling bad about the paint job now…
.
Q- Blogging takes a lot of time. Do you ever pass by Shannon while she is on the computer and secretly feel neglected?
A- Yes!
Me- I think I need more regular working hours!
.
Q- Before, during, and after photos are an important part of blogging, do you remember to do that while working on projects for Shannon?
A- No, I never take pictures, she won’t let me touch her camera.
Me- Damn straight.
.
12. How often do you read Shannon’s blog and do you have a favorite post?
A- I read every post, and proofread for errors. My favorite is the fireplace mantel makeover. I’ve read it about a dozen times.
Me- I always ask him to read a post before I hit publish because I am a typo Queen!
.
Q- Before changing a piece of furniture, hanging new curtains, or planning a whole room redo, does Shannon consult you or do you come home and it’s done?
A- I come home and it’s done. I have zero input on what she buys or where she puts it.
Me- As it should be. If he had an opinion I had to deal with I don’t know what I would do? lol
.
Case in point. The neutral living room I just fluffed a few weeks ago,
that I am now changing all around to usher in Spring!
If he cared, I’d be in real trouble. Thankfully, he just likes me happy.

This is what it looked like when he came home from work yesterday.
Plus a paint tarp and three paint projects in the middle.
This is my “during” phase.

.
Q- Does Shannon discuss her blog with you, stories from other blogs or friendships with other bloggers?
A- Yes, all of the above. I know Debbie, the other Debbie, Shayna, a girl she calls the paint pixie, Bliss and many others I can’t keep straight.
.
Q- Where do you think Shannon gets most of her creative inspiration; tv, magazines, online, you, or was she just born that way?
A- She was definitely just born that way, it’s ingrained in her DNA.
.
Q- Do you know what Pantone’s color of the year is and how do you feel about so called “girly” colors for your walls?
A- I don’t even know what you just said? No. And no, I don’t want pink walls.
.
Q- If you could change one room or area of your home with no decorating advice from Shannon, what area would you choose and why?
A- I’m not a decorator so I can’t even answer that question.
.
Q- Are you ever worried Shannon will share too much personal information or that blogging might invade your private life?
A- No. Not at all.
.
Q- Have you ever helped Shannon style photos for her blog or offer input on how you think a vignette should look?
A- What’s a vignette?
.
Q- There is a saying “If walls could talk…”, what would yours say about the decorating in your bedroom?
A- ::Laughter:: Shannon takes really good pictures.
Me- (I don’t know what that means???) lol
.
Whew!! I hope that wasn’t too much Shannon in one post!!
Just filling in my name in all the blanks felt totally narcissistic!
.
It was SO fun getting Jim’s un-edited thoughts on what it’s like living with me and my(our) blog though. I told him he had to give me the first answer that popped in his head and he did.

Please make sure and catch the hi-jinx over at the other blogs that are participating. I know there are going to be some silly answers that are sure to make us laugh! We are a quirky sort, we “creative” types.

Here’s to being the best “you” that you can be and to the partner’s, family and friends that support us! I could never, ever do this without the unwavering support, and often, the assistance of my husband. (I love you baby!!!!)
.
Thanks for stopping in, and I hope you had fun here at the hollow with us today.
Shannon
.
What a great post — funny and entertaining! I’m glad I found your blog!
Thanks!! We sure had fun 🙂 Welcome!
I love it! Surely you weren’t considering pink walls 😉 I really enjoyed getting to know you better through him!
Nope, he is pretty open to anything but pink walls, he told me that a long time ago.
Hello Shannon… I like this post… and your blog…
My hubby doesn’t read my blog…. but he does take an interest in my Photography and how the house is furnished…. and HE does the vacuuming in our house… … xxxx
Hugs … Barb xxx
What? Mine doesn’t touch the vacuum! Ever. I think the floor could disappear first. hahaha…. 😉
This was such a fun post to read! I think that it is neat to see how our husbands really feel about things.
I told him to share the first thing that popped into his head, and there was no editing 🙂 I’m so glad you enjoyed it, thanks for commenting and letting us know 🙂
Fabulous post!! Loved every morsel of it!! You’ve got a great guy there.
Blessings, Edie Marie
Oh thank you! We had fun, I’d do something like this again in a minute!!
I am so enjoying this series! Brilliant idea! So when is it you are re-painting the counter tops?!
I knew he would be that kind of guy! If you find $100 I suggest you buy a sander and some Aqua paint and go to work on those fence boards!
I know right?? He never cares what I do, but that one he liked. What is funny, is he had volunteered to remove them completely for some reason? I can’t recall.. but I can’t paint them? hahaha
Sounds like you’ve got the perfect man there! And I, too, hate doing dishes. And laundry. And vacuuming — could you come and vacuum my house too?
And now I’m feeling bad about painting over the aqua and I didn’t even do it!
🙂 Linda
hahaha. Like Debbie Refresh Restyle said, get over it Jim, she’ll paint it aqua again soon. lol!
I will come vacuum, my Dyson and I travel 🙂
Wasn’t this so fun?!
Haha! Vacuum…that was hilarious! Too cute!
I was like, did you read the question? haha.
Everyone had such cute answers 🙂
This is so fun! I’m right there with you on the dishes (I’m soooo bad with those) and the need for better blogging hours! Thank goodness for understanding guys who love us anyway 🙂
You said it, I’m so lucky, and he knows I love it.
I do tend to be doing “just one more thing” and I’ve got to keep ore normal hours.
Oh my gosh Shannon what a man you have! Jim is a sweetie for sure. This was fun, and yes Mike knows you well.
Yep, He is a good guy and he helps me so much.
Since there are two Debbies you are Debbiedoo.
He knows all about you and with our band boys, he knows just who I am talking about!
Hahaha, this is so great Shannon! We love eating at food trucks when we travel, too. And your comment “if i had to deal with his opinion i don’t know what i’d do” has me laughing out loud!!
Oh my gosh girl, they are all over the island and seriously have the best stuff!
I know… it’s so true. I can’t imagine having to compromise or factor in another taste!?
I’m completely spoiled getting to basically do whatever I like! (within budget) Drat the B word!!
Ah ha ha ha ha ha. Oh Mr. Fox! Two things now…. I want to drink whatever is in that coconut, and I’m sitting here thinking of ways you can get some of the white off to bring back a little aqua to the counter Jim knows and loves!
Dear lord… I’ll never live down the painting of the counter now!!
And it was fresh coconut milk. (it was early in the day) hehe
You need another blog so you can post those pictures from the last question 😉
Jim, let it go – I’m sure those boards will be aqua again soon! I need a proof reader, you’re the best husband in the world!
xo
Debbie
What was up with that answer right??? :/
And you win the prize for the let it go comment. Freaking hilarious!!
Oh my, without a proofreader… your eyes would bleed.
ha…. i love Jim! especially the response to the last question. Maybe he was thinking about the painted fence boards again.
Maybe he was? hehe
I guess I’m going to be on timeout for that one…
