Neutral Navy Living Room Refresh
Hi friends! Whew, yes I am still here. And it looks like you are too! Thanks for joining me. It’s been a whirlwind of activity behind the scenes here at the cottage and I’ll catch you up on everything as soon as I can, for now, I’m happy to get to share what I did today. My neutral navy living room refresh all started with a coffee table makeover.
You might recall it’s last look [see it here] if you’ve been around awhile.
I was ready for a change after letting it “have a break”, which means it was stuffed over in The Little Cottage hoard pile-o-furniture that was living in the guest bedroom. I’m happy to report we’ve got that chore checked off our list. As we clear things out getting ready for the renovation there, I’ve been deciding what to keep and what to part with. I wasn’t quite ready to part with my $5 cutie, so I decided to give it a new look and have some fun with it!
My living room is definitely my most often changed room. Shifting small furnishing and changing out accessories, especially pillows (you know how I feel about them) makes for easy changes with little effort and most of the time, little to no budget. Making changes as the mood strikes keeps things interesting and as long as I continue to enjoy doing, I will.
I’ve been in a really blue mood lately. But blue in a good way.
I was finally ready to put my patriotic decor away so I pulled out all the red, and added a few varying shades of blue, along with my new Target (by way of Goodwill) navy/blue/coral stripe pillows! I shared them with you on Facebook live, and they are happily at home on my sofa. I’m still super-loving my HELLO pillow, so there it stays. It might be a record or something?
Aren’t the tassels on the Target/Goodwill pillows so cute?
I sure got lucky finding the new stock right when it came in. Otherwise… unless they were slip-covered (washable) I don’t think I’d have brought them home. I have standards. Swear. haha.
I know ya’ll see some of the junque I bring home on picking days…
I have to apologize before I sign off here… for some reason, my pictures uploaded terribly and they look super blurry once I add them to my article? I’ve no idea what is going on, but I ‘ll work hard to figure it out before I post again.
I was going to share the paint technique I used but I decided to keep this short with the picture problem, and I’ll share that with you just as soon as I get this little bug figured out.
Take care now! ~Shannon
I would love to know where the chair and ottoman are from. I’ve been looking everywhere for one, and I think The one in you photo would work great in my family room. Thanks so much, Becky
Hello Becky, I got that from a furniture store that has long since closed, and I’m so sorry to tell you there isn’t a lick of information on any of my three pieces. I wish I could be more help!!
Love the blue update! You did a great job pulling the whole room together! I’m waiting to hear about your paint technique. In the meantime can you tell me what color blue and paint brand you used? Also did you paint the white side table under the mirror? I like that distressed look and wondering if that would work on my kitchen table…or maybe the navy…hmmm
Hi Mona! I sure can. I used NAVY by Maison Blanche and their White Wax.
I did paint the side table, also with Maison Blanche in Magnolia(I think), here is the post for that one: http://bit.ly/DIYtablebuild
Thanks for stopping by!!
Well I am glad that I am not the only one that frequents GW:) I love thrifting for my home! Your living room
looks cozy and nice I am can’t wait to see what else you are doing!
Thanks so much Melinda – I love a good deal. I picked this one up at a garage/estate sale.
Oh so pretty. Now will you keep the beach theme throughout the year or do you change it up periodically?
You really did a great job and since I am a blue and white gal myself….i love the softness of the colors. Plus I love anything to do with the beach! Thank you for sharing!
Char, I am a serial re-decorator. haha. I’m always shifting and changing. This will stay through the Fall though I think? Maybe with some element added in. I live on the coast and like to add a coastal/nautical dash to my decorating.
Love all your navy punches! My favorite 🙂
Thanks Jenn!!
You did a fantastic job with all this. I love how fresh it feels and the blue additions. The coffee table turned out wonderful- you really transformed it nicely. Love the four sided centerpiece- great job!
Hi Liz!! Thanks so much, what great compliments coming from you!!
Amazing coffee table any way you look at it (looked up the first version) and the blue with the white looks really crisp! I don’t usually like blue that much, but like yours. The pillows are amazing and you really lucked out with them. I am intrigued with your book ends. (?)
Hi Karen – thanks so much. I love that little table. When I did the Navy I wasn’t totally in love but the addition of white did it for me 😉
I’m glad I kept it. I got so lucky with those, thanks. I like them too.
…is it me you’re looking for
It is! It is YOU!!
(hehe)
Smooches!!
