Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart Outdoor Furniture Review
Reviews can be so helpful, especially when making larger purchases, like say outdoor patio furniture. I appreciate them so much when I’m trying to make an informed choice, so today I’m reviewing all five of the Better Homes And Gardens outdoor furniture sets we’ve purchased from Walmart over that last several years.

For the following outdoor furniture reviews, I thought it important to include my location. I live on the coast in Southern Oregon. We are classified as a USDA Hardiness Zone 9a / 9b. We don’t commonly experience drastically high or low temperature extremes. Though we do get very high winds. Infrequently we get hail, overnight freeze warnings, and even incidental snow, and last Summer we hit a few triple digit days (but that’s very rare).
VICTORIA OUTDOOR DINING PATIO SET
I’m going to work in reverse chronological order, and review my newest addition first. This first set I’m sharing has been set-up on the new deck since early last Fall. We’ve already been able to use it several times. I have not photographed or blogged it yet, but you’ll see it properly when I share the NEW deck and pergola reveal later in the season. It’s the Better Homes and Gardens Victoria Outdoor Dining 5-Piece Patio Set [click here]. The slight wing back style and the lower skirting were exactly what I wanted in my outdoor dining chairs. I also love that it’s got the grey cushions, and a similar body color that coordinates well with our other existing pieces.
COLOR:
-
Chairs — Still out of the box perfect. Even though we’ve only had it a short time, the chairs have already weathered the full brunt of a wet and stormy PNW Autumn and Winter.
-
Table — Overall weathered well over it’s first Autumn & Winter.
CONDITION:
-
Chairs — Still look brand new.
-
Table — Unfortunately, we discovered upon unpacking our set, that the table arrived damaged. It has a dent/crimp along the top and edge of the tabletop. It’s not visually overly concerning yet, but because the paint finish was chipped and disrupted by the damage, so it’s rusting. And that will create a problem in the near future. I attempted to process a return, but the table needed to be shipped back in order to get a replacement. I didn’t have the materials needed to pack something of that size, weight and dimension, so I still have the damaged one. Now, I have a less than perfect “new” table, and because I am so careful with my things, that bothers me. (Note – I purchased online, but if buying in-store, returning if damaged would be much easier.)
CUSHIONS: Because of my location, it can rain almost any time. We choose to store our cushions out of the weather when not in use. Normally it’s just my husband and I, so we pop them on and off when we are outside lounging, and then put them away before we head inside. Ours have only been used a handful of times, and they are still perfect.
OVERVIEW: Better Homes and Gardens Victoria Outdoor Dining 5-Piece Patio Set [click here]. Even though we had a snafu with our table, I’d still absolutely recommend this set. The four chairs and cushions alone are well worth the price of the entire set. Overall, I’ve been impressed with the quality to cost ratio of all the Better Homes & Gardens outdoor pieces we’ve bought.
THE EGG CHAIR
Or as I have come to call it, my Garden Throne. I love mine like crazy! It’s deep and cushy and you can just lounge in this thing. It’s big enough to curl your legs up in and just laze the day away… and when you peek up through the webbing it’s like a mental vacation as you gaze at the sky. They just have such a relaxing, zen vibe to them! After purchasing one, I added a second one so company could lounge along with me. Though truthfully, I’m more often perched on the edge pruning or dead-heading my plants & flowers, because I just love tending to them. But those few minutes of actual relaxing feel like hours.
I got my first Egg Chair in early February… and by the peak of Summer the deck was in full bloom [tour the deck garden here] and there was room for two. You can find my black & white stripe rug [click here] while it’s still in stock!
COLOR:
-
Chairs — Slight fading, but I prefer the lighter color so I’m good with it.
-
Cushions — Surprisingly good considering they are a creamy white color!
CONDITION:
-
Chairs — Still look brand new. The all weather wicker appears in perfect condition.
-
Cushions — Because I use our sun deck daily, unless we had a clear threat of rain, I left the cushions outdoors all Spring/Summer. I have lightly hosed them off a few times and let them dry in the sun and they have done shockingly well being such a light color! Outdoor dust and grime from the trees and such just rinse right off. The cushions have also kept their shape and loft well, and are still very comfortable.
OVERVIEW: Better Homes and Gardens Ventura Boho Stationary Wicker Egg Chair [click here]. If we had a bottomless budget and more cushion storage room, I’d have a set of FOUR. It’s my favorite seat in all of our outdoors. Everyone who visits loves them.
CARSON COVE THREE PIECE CHAT SET
This little set ended up being a real surprise! I needed seating for the porch down at our guest cottage, but I didn’t have a big budget, and the scale couldn’t be too large or bulky otherwise it would block the doorway. These chairs are so deceptive. They look to be on the smaller side, but they are so comfy and supportive. The back has the perfect curve and you just kind of lean into them. The arm height is very comfortable and supportive as well. Total MVP’s! My husband and son use them a lot and they both love them.
COLOR:
-
Chairs — Perfect. And they get weather all day, every day. Rain or shine.
-
Table — Again, perfect.
CONDITION:
-
Chairs — Still look brand new and they are used almost daily.
-
Table — Holding up great. A sturdy little cutie, that gets a lot of use!
CUSHIONS: I can’t really review how the cushions have worn and held-up, because my guys don’t care and they sit in the chairs cushion-less all the time. They just don’t bother grabbing them. They are too lightweight to just leave on, because they fly away with our coastal winds.
OVERVIEW: Better Homes and Gardens Carson Cove Outdoor Patio Set [click here]. I’d buy it again. I’m actually considering grabbing another set like this for the little upper deck because it’s chair-less now, since we’ve got all our patio furniture, including our Egg Chairs, on the brand new lower deck. (you didn’t read that honey)
Better Homes & Gardens Brookbury 5-Piece Patio Wicker Sectional Set
The patio set that started it all for us! A few years ago, we finally got to the point in our home renovations that we could pivot to upgrading our outdoor spaces and I got my dream outdoor sectional. This set has seen so many family gatherings, and we have both celebrated and mourned in this outdoor space. It’s a true haven and having a comfortable place for everyone to sit when we have gatherings is so important to us. It’s also great to be able to stretch out with your feet up, read… and to really snuggle in around the firepit when it’s just my husband and I as well.
COLOR:
-
Sectional Body — I can’t see any discernable fading.
-
Table — Also fade free.
CONDITION:
-
Body — Still looks and feels like new.
-
Table — Holding up great, sturdy & stable.
CUSHIONS: We’ve really USED this set and the cushions are holding up great so far. I’m going to guesstimate a 10% reduction at most in oomph on the seat cushions, and about the same for the pillow backs in terms of shape retention, probably not even that. They all still look and feel pretty good! And we’ve got some super big and tall guys who frequent this set! As far as fading, they are only on the sectional when we are using it, otherwise they are stored, so I can’t report on that accurately. I can tell you that toddler smeared fresh strawberries wipe right off though! Always a bonus. The fabric still looks really good!
OVERVIEW: Better Homes & Gardens Brookbury 5-Piece Patio Wicker Sectional Set [click here] I’ve recommended this to my readers, friends, and anyone who will listen since we got it, and I have not changed my mind. It provides amazing outdoor seating and and it’s so versatile. Between the sectional (that you can separate), the table (extra dining or serving space) and the two ottomans (also great for extra seating in a pinch)… it’s just a ton of bang for your buck!
BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS CAMROSE CHAT SET
Last but not least, the very first set I purchased from the Better Homes & Gardens line at Walmart (I was so impressed, I haven’t stopped). I bought this 3-piece chat set for my mom. It included two wing back chairs (with cushions) and a versatile accent table. This set is now 3 years old. It lives outside 365 days a year, down at the beach in Southern California. It gets full sun about 80% of the day.
-
COLOR: Still true, with no discernable visible fading.
-
CONDITION: Still looks brand new (right from my moms mouth). No cracks, splits or other weather related wear or damage the the table or chairs.
-
CUSHIONS: My mom keeps a towel over the seat cushions when not in use, and brings them inside if it rains. There is some very slight fading, but it’s very even. She said only she would know they are slightly lighter than when they were new. The shape, loft and fill of the seat cushions and pillow backs are still very good. They appear and sit/feel the same as they did when they were new.

This exact Better Homes & Gardens 3-piece set is no longer available, but this 3-piece set is comparable [click here] and this 4-piece outdoor set is similar, has a coffee table and includes a love seat too! [click here]
What a great review. I have an outdoor fireplace in which I need furniture. Do you think any of these would withstand the weather – as in, the space is not covered.
You created a lovely living space.
Everything I shared lives out in the weather at my home here on the Oregon Coast. I store the cushions inside over Winter.
So yes, I think they would be fine, as they are designed to be outdoors.
Of course I’m sure they would last longer if they were stored inside during the off season.
Hope that helps 🙂
Thanks for sharing your info on the patio furniture! I bought some chairs many years ago from Walmart and have been pleased with them. I like your rugs. Where did you purchase the striped one? How would you rate it on durability? You do a wonderful job with your blog. Have a great day!
Hi Sylvia,
The striped rug is also from Walmart.
It’s pretty sturdy, and is designed for outdoor use.
I’ve hosed it off a few times, when it’s hot enough out for it to dry well and not mold first 😉
I’ll email you the link to it, it’s available again this season.
Thank you so much, I sure appreciate the compliment 🙂
