Pumpkin French Toast Sticks
Please welcome Katie Jane and get ready to make this for breakfast tomorrow.
Or now, you now would be good too {winks} – Because YUM!
Look what I made!
Oh gosh, that sounded like I was a three year old child showing you a mud pie. I have not made a mud pie. My creation is much better than a mud pie. Maybe.
I have made french toast sticks. Kinda like the kind you buy in the box, but they taste better and way better for you. They have pumpkin, therefore they are healthy.
They also have cinnamon, which is probably good for your heart.
And bread, which, er…. promotes a healthy immune system?
I don’t know, but here’s how to make it:
Pumpkin French Toast Sticks
Ingredients:
sliced bread (I used texas toast),
1 egg
½ cup milk
3 tlbs canned pumpkin
1 tsp sugar
dash of salt
¾ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp cloves
To begin:
Preheat oven to 350* F.
Slice the bread into strips. Set aside.
Whisk together the egg, milk, canned pumpkin, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and cloves.
Dip the strips in the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides. Bake on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper in 350* degree oven for 15 minutes, then flip the sticks and bake for another 15 minutes.
Note: If you want the sticks crispier, reduce the temperature to 250* F and bake for another 10 minutes on each side.
Also, make sure to warm up your syrup. It’s much yummier all warm. Trust me.
Wow look at how hard that was.
But really, this is probably the easiest thing I’ve ever made. The hardest part of it was flipping the sticks, and that was just because I’m lazy and didn’t want to get off the couch.
Yay for being a teenager.
Thank you. This has been Katie Jane, who’s quite cold and is very excited for her father to make her coffee. Farewell.
This little cutie cracks me up every time! She loves sharing her recipes here and I hope you like them too! Jim is our resident “french toast” maker. Wonder if he’ll give these a shot? Oh honey….
