Summer Hydrangeas
Not too long ago.. when my house was not an absolute bloody mess… and we were not knee-deep in a wood flooring install, my house looked clean… and maybe even a little bit pretty. I’m pretending it still looks like that today. You know, so I can see ahead to a time my house might not look like this…
Won’t you join me?
I have a sweet friend who has a super-stunning Hydrangea bush and she gifted me some. I’m a lucky girl!!
I had fun making them into a casual arrangement with a few this & thats from my property. I added some French Lavender and some Spanish Lavender, along with some Pineapple Mint. Which is the best smelling stuff ever! I added a pretty little ruffled accent around the vase with some of that Nicole Miller fabric I harvested from my now deceased pillow shams. You know, the ones I tore apart last Spring and decorated my mantel with.
That fabric sure has come in handy! … it just keeps on giving.
I {extra} love to take pictures of Summer flowers. When it’s dark and dreary and we are in the thick of Winter, I put them on my desktop as a screen saver and daydream of sweet, sweet Summertime.
We are halfway through the kitchen and heading towards the living room tomorrow. The biggest area of the flooring install. Then, we start putting all the new baseboards in. I still can’t believe these floors are going into our house. It does not feel real, even though we are doing it, I see it (and hear it!).
Sort of a pinch-me type deal. You know?

I have three Hydrangea bushes and they are like my children. Those varieties you have are gorgeous! What a nice friend! I don’t think that type would even grow here with that vibrant purple. Jealous!

Lovely pictures Shannon…and you are indeed a lucky girl to be getting your floors. You deserve them and have waited a long time…and the fact that you are installing them yourselves is amazing! Can’t wait to see them. Don’t work too hard!

Thanks so much for the sweet message. Ever since the fridge leaked, I knew we needed to remedy the situation, the replacement flowing into the living room is a silver lining for sure. It took some saving, but doing it ourselves made it possible.

Purple hydrangeas are my favorite! I’ve tried to get my soil just right for my bush but no luck….they stay blue. Can’t wait to see your floors 🙂

This is an old, established bush. You don’t see this color often. It’s deep, some almost plum colored. It’s so pretty. I envy her!! We have loads and loads of Hydras here but most are blue, some pink and white. This shade is more rare for sure.
Me too. lol. I can’t wait until they are done, but it’s slow going. DIY’ing it takes a little longer, laying everything out and making sure it’s right before we nail it in. Thanks for popping by Shasta!

Gorgeous arrangement – I HEART hydrangeas so much. Have had terrible luck trying to grow them in the past but may have to try again. Hang in there with the flooring. It’s going to be so pretty!!!!

Hi Shannon! Oh, your hydrangeas are so pretty. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen purple ones before. Now I love the little ruffly shirt on your vase! So loverly. I know your floors will be so beautiful when they’re done.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia 😉
