Top DIY and Home Decor Projects of 2017
Hello and welcome to the end of 2017! It was another year filled with 360+ days of breathing in and out, and learning new things, and growing as a human being. Jim & I were on our own, and I had to re-learn how to cook and shop for two. I still tend to overbuy pantry goods, and I’m working on that. We’ll be good in an emergency though. We had a full and busy year with the workshop being in full swing, in addition to our booth at Vintage 101, and of course, all our projects here at the house and at The Little Cottage. This will be my last year as a 48 year old, and my 6th year of blogging. It still shocks and surprises me that what started as a way to share and connect with other people who love to do projects on their homes and decorate, turned into a real-life, full time job. It’s something I marvel at, and am extremely thankful for!! But enough about that… let’s peek at what you all loved the most from 2017. I’m so glad that you can’t get enough of our home improvement ideas as we have so much more planned for next year. We’ve already been looking Here to find building contractors to assist us with a few of the projects.
These are the top DIY and Home Decor Projects that appeared on the blog here at Fox Hollow Cottage in 2017 – I’m always excited to see what you all liked the most! This list is determined by page views (or visits) to the blog.

This one went crazy, in such a short time! I’m really glad I shared it early with you so that you could get them before they were gone. And it gave me great joy to answer all your questions and help you get baskets, and bins and boxes for them! I was so, so happy that soo many of you found this little $30 tree to be perfect for your home and budget.

I hope I can continue to share interesting spaces, ideas and projects with you in 2018. I will strive to stay down-to-earth with budgets that most of us can afford, and share projects and decorating ideas that feel accessible & achievable. I’m pleased to announce I’ll be working with Better Homes & Gardens again, I know that many of you love that we can all afford a little BHG from Walmart. YOU are one of the main reasons I continue to partner with them. Plus the quality has impressed me at every turn, and the prices are so reasonable.
I actually turn down paid work with brands that I don’t think would translate well. I don’t want to get “free things” I’d never actually buy, and that none of you would buy in a million years. I mean… I wouldn’t buy a $695.00 pewter water pitcher, so I’m certainly not going to showcase one in a post. That’s just one random example. Anyhow… I guess I just want you to know, that you all really do mean SO much to me. I think about what you might like, and ideas that might be helpful before I consider writing about them. Because it’s my life, yes, but if you are going to take the time to read it, I want it to have some value to you.
Your support, comments, and friendship make this job all the more rewarding!! And I thank you for it all, from the bottom of my heart!!
Please let me know if your “most-liked” made the Top DIY and Decor Projects of 2017 list – I’d love to hear what your favorite was in the comments!!

Love all of your decor. Loved the navy bathroom so much! Trying to find the Orange Glow Everyday cleaner but not having much luck.
Thank you for all your hard work!
Hi Sherry, you can order it online from Amazon 😉 I added it to my store, I’ll get you the link.
Thank so much!! I love the navy and think I might add some pink for Spring. Think it could be fun.
Happy New Year, and thank you for stopping by 🙂
You had a fabulous productive year for sure. My favorites did make the top two. Love that little cottage and how fun to have that extra space to play with. I love to play house! Oh, and I still buy and cook too much for the two of us and my kids have been gone a long time.
Happy New Year!!
Kim I just cleaned out my kitchen and it was sinful!! I about died. Saving grace is we got all of it to a pig farmer and he will use it all!
I’m so glad because I felt so guilty. Yikes.
Thanks so much, I sure love seeing what you do too – Happy New Year friend. xo Shannon
