Vintage Cottage Guest Bedroom Makeover
We are officially ready for company at The Little Cottage! The guest bedroom is done. It’s cozy cottage, and a little bit farmhouse, with a splash of vintage. Vintage can be translated as antique or… junque I thrifted. Whichever works for you. Now that we have checked off the Entryway [here] and the Living Room [here] (both are getting new looks for Fall) and just last month, the Bathroom [here]… the guest bedroom makes the transformation complete for all the guest spaces.
Welcome to The Little Cottage Guest Bedroom. Please come in…
It’s light & airy – With freshly painted walls.
Soft gold accents – Vintage touches.
Fluffy layered bedding – Light floral draperies.
And what I hope, are comfortable touches for our guests.
You can stop reading now, if you like. I’ve shared all the sources and product links for your shopping convenience at the bottom of the post, like I always do. But if you want to humor me… you can continue reading along.
I’m going to gush now…
I am in love with this room – I mean, in l o v e.
Occasionally when I complete a project, I find it hard to stop taking pictures. This was one of those occasions.
Most of the time when I decorate or re-fluff something… I really like it.
But this? It just feels so right. I adore it.
I’m so happy that my guests will have a place that I hope feels very special to them, to get to stay when they visit.
Keeping the surfaces lightly decorated, means that my company will have room to set their things.
I added the bench at the foot of the bed to provide both a place to sit, or lay out clothes. I opted for this, instead of a single chair. Especially useful when couples visit.
The bed is all about lofty layers.
I was so excited to work on this space this month for my Better Homes & Gardens challenge. The beautiful bedding I selected is exactly what I wanted to set the tone for the rest of the room!
Starting with buttery soft sheets & topped off with a ruffled quilt.
And while it might be a bit of a room hog… I am so happy I went big, and decided on a king size bed in this room.
To dress the bed, I paired grey paisley sheets, with a pure white down comforter, and put the quilt with the delicate ruffles on top. I feel like the color story flows nicely from the bath to the bedroom, and I’m really happy with the direction the cottage is going in.
The petite wardrobe was rescued from it’s moldy doom. (You’ll get that reference if you join me on Facebook) Thankfully, I was able to fix the paint job gone wrong, and it got some sweet gold accents to coordinate with the chandelier. I hope to have a more in-depth feature for you on that soon. And to share the inside.
The vintage gold touches in the room make it feel so warm, and keep all the white from feeling sterile.
The frame, the mirror, the vintage glass doorknobs as finials… all sprinkled throughout the room add not only warmth, but some soft, understated vintage glam.
Thanks to my hubby for helping make the doorknob post toppers into a reality. He ground down the inner workings so they would sit flush in the depression at the top of the posts. He is always helping to make my dreams & schemes come true.
And then, there is my sparkly beauty. She waited patiently, for over a year, to be hung.
Her crystals were cleaned, and she was given a nice massage with some Antique Gold Rub N Buff. Her brass finish had lost its luster, and this was the perfect way to renew it!
Still here? Thank you so much for celebrating me!! Lots of rooms are exciting to makeover, but this one just felt extra special when I was done. I think it’s going to be my favorite for a long, long, long time.
xo Shannon

The bench is lovely – and has casters! Does it have storage? I have been looking for the perfect bench for over a year. Please share where you bought it.
Love, love, love the little cottage. We have an apt over the garage that is practically all windows. I would love to do something similar there.
Thank you for your inspiration.
No storage, and I linked right to in in the post – It’s from Birch Lane 🙂
Oh your window-y apartment sounds fab!! What possibilities.
What is name of paint color and paint brand used on walls in guest bedroom?
Hi Barbara, I used Sherwin Wiliams HARMONY paint in Extra White. Eg-Shel for the walls and semi gloss for the trims. 🙂
It’s straight from the can, and un-tinted. I love a pure white, and that is what they suggested, I’ve been using it a few years now.
The little cottage living room, and the main house downstairs bath is also done in the Extra White.
Are you kidding me!?!?!?! SHANNON!!! THIS SPACE IS A DREAM! I think this my favorite of your beautiful spaces you have created ❤. Any guest would be lucky to sleep in there. My eyes were like this ? scrolling through the post lol.l
Oscar, I love you. You make me laugh, always!! LOL
I’m gonna come steal all your fab B&W!!
Tell your wife if she hears something, it’s just that crazy blonde girl. hehe
Shannon, Please let me come visit you someday! I promise I’ll be a good guest I just want to stay in that gorgeous bedroom. You had me at buttery soft sheets. I am just blown away by your talent! XOXO Tammy @ourburlapbungalow
All my talented friends are welcome to visit… beware, I might put you to work! hahahahaha
Your bedroom is gorgeous Shannon! All the touches are wonderful – I can see how this is going to be your favorite makeover.
Thanks Pam. Yeah… my poor room is feeling neglected 😉 lol
Your House Looks absolutely designed Beautifully. What a transformation. Bravo!!
Hi Lisa! Thanks so very much 🙂
This room is simply stunning! It’s perfect in every way! I love the chandelier shots and the different angles of the photos!
Oh thank you so much sweetie… those are the most fun <3
Darling and affordable! Nice intro into this product line, Shannon!!
I’m so glad you liked it! Yes, look around. I’ve been happy with everything I have tried!
I’m in love with the gray pillow that looks like felted wool and wonderful pompoms. I couldn’t find it on the BH&G or Walmart site. The one on the great bench.
Oh I am so sorry… that one was a HomeGoods find last Fall, around this time!
Just gorgeous my friend!
Thanks so much Rebekah!
Love, love, love those doorknobs as finials on the bed. What a great idea! The room just looks smashing!
It took awhile, but I got them there. LOL
Sometimes those ideas in our head take time, between laundry, cleaning.. and life. 😉
This is beyond spectacular! It actually feels like a breath of crisp cool air! I’m afraid I’d never want to leave this gorgeous space. xo
I kinda want to move in.
It’s a lot cuter than my room, that is for sure (the poor thing).
Shannon, The cottage bedroom is lovely! I know how you feel when a room comes together so perfectly. I am the same and keep going back to look at the new look or space time and again. I love the softness of the neutrals and white and envy your guests who get to be so pampered!
YES! Exactly.. you keep peeking at it. I’ve done that before for sure 😉
Thanks so much for the sweet comment and checking in!
