Vintage Gold Cottage Christmas Living Room
Hello and Welcome!
I’m here to share our Christmas living room with you today.
It’s tiny, cozy and lightly dusted with Christmas and touches of gold.
It’s also completely inspired by the gold dipped feathers I created!
I was just playing around one night after finishing a Christmas craft, when I decided to try painting some feathers with my gold craft paint. I did one… and I was in insta-luv. It was so pretty and shimmered just so. I was enamored I tell you. (it doesn’t take much) So… I just kept making them. I think I was up until one o’clock in the morning?… just crafting away and watching Lifetime Christmas movies. Mostly because I was too absorbed to change the channel. I really lost track of the time. When they started repeating, I knew it was late.
I was actually going to “make something” with them, but when I laid them on this tray to take a picture of them I really liked them just as they were. I set it on my coffee table and it never left. So, I added an old corner market pickle jar, filled it with vintage Shiny Brite ornaments and the table just sort of fell together after that.
My mom made and sent me the sheet music filled bottle and it’s exactly right here. I also added my vintage style putz filled Christmas cloche. My mom and I actually each bought one of these while shopping together at Target one year! Had it for years now and still love it.
I of course added extra sparkle by dousing mine in vintage mica glitter. The tiny Christmas tree is also dusted with mica glitter and it rests in an old tin cup sitting on a little sea shell created disc.
The coffee table holds my only Christmas decor in the room this year. I kept it light. Just because that is the mood I was in.
I go with how I feel, planning ahead does not work for me. I will invariably decorate the complete opposite if I try to plan, it takes the fun out it for me as well. It’s seems more like work and I enjoy letting the Christmas sprinkle itself about my home much better! I decorated the coffee table one day. I was happy with it. And I left it alone. It’ makes me perfectly happy.
I did layer on some luxe sequin and faux fur pillows and throws that can stay out all Winter though.
Lots of snuggly throws are available to grab and curl up with up.
Yeah, I probably should have made over my chalkboard with some fabulous Christmas art… but I didn’t get to it and that is okay! Because… I just didn’t get to it. You know my thoughts on that…
(has to apply to myself as well right?)
If you need a gentle reminder, you can print it here.
The brown faux fur pillow is so soft… you just want to pet it!
And so is the Winter white blanket. Mmm…
This one might not be as snuggly… but man is it gorgeous! The faux bois design is shot through in a gold metallic thread. Swoon. In the cart that baby went. Yum-yum!!
Gorgeous right? Stay tuned and I’ll tell you where I got it and how much I paid at the bottom of the post.
Paired with a matte sequin Donna Karen pillow and my Nate Berkus find my garage sale chair is looking pretty glam.
I get so much enjoyment out of snuggling up in my big chair after a long day and settling in to watch some tv while the boys are busy doing their own thing. It’s definitely my me time. A little iphone Words With Friends… and I’m a happy girl!!
Having a my family safe, warm and happy, with a little Christmas pretties around is everything I could want for the holidays. I don’t need anything on Christmas morning. I’ve already got a pretty dang great life and I don’t want for anything more.
Okay, I lied. I could magically wake up Christmas morning in my 26 year old body… but other than that. I’m good.
Love and hugs this Christmas.

Thanks so much! I tell you, they were really easy. You could totally make some! I like them too though 🙂 Just one of those things that catches your eye during the day and it is pretty to look at.

Your living room is so pretty, Shannon! Just a few festive touches and it looks gorgeous! The feathers are such a great idea, they would look cute on your gift packages, too. I did my living room in gold and white, particularly the mantel. I did have to plan a little because I’ve always been a “silver person”…I just picked up some candles from Homegoods and was good to go.
Happy Holidays to you! And I hear you on the 26 year old body!! Why didn’t we know how good we had it back then? lol!
XO,
Jane

Save that. Blanket for. Me! Forget petting. The pillow, I am gaga for that throw! I am loving that gold and white. If you find your 26 year old body, help me find my 36 year old one. I think that was my best age 🙂

I love the “little things” I find at HomeGoods and that when I see something, I know it’s probably within my budget before I pick it up! Except handbags… I always grab like some random $400 purse when I am there and fall in love. Of course, those have to stay there! Too bad we can’t junk find those right? lol!
