I’ve got Seasonal decorating disorder.
Technically, it’s Fall.
It feels like Summer.
And I’m decorating for Halloween.
But come on…
Isn’t that little witch tea towel just the cutest!?
You know it is 😉
I had the luxury of dropping everything I was doing yesterday and spending some time with a friend.
It was last minute, I twisted my hair up, left the house naked- faced and had a wonderful time.
We grabbed sandwiches from a little local market (They make the best, on fresh-baked bread subs ever. The end) and went down to the waterfront.
It was a beautiful day. Blue sky for miles… warm, no wind. Simply sublime.
A day to be treasured by us here on the Oregon Coast!
It was low… low tide.
Ha! Can ya tell?
I snapped a few photos with my cell phone while we were there.
It’s so rejuvenating. The sounds, the sea birds, boats out fishing… even if it was just for a little while.
After we strolled the waterfront to soak in in a bit, we headed over to one of my favorite stores here in town.
Ross.
I’ve decided Ross is a little like.. a poor mans HomeGoods.
While I love HomeGoods, my nearest store is 4 hours away, round trip.
Ross will do in a pinch! (Believe me, I’m thankful to have it! Shopping is slim here.)
They are not as heavy on decor, but if your hunt and peck, you can fill a cart. We both managed to do so!!
I got some things for the little cottage guest room, like bed pillows, a down comforter, a set of curtains, and a few etceteras. I still need to find a duvet, but now I’ll be ready when I do!
Oh, and the witchy tea towel. That was the very first thing that went in my cart! You know how they keep the seasonal stuff right up front for suckers shoppers like me!
When I got all my Halloween stuff out this year, I realized I had edited down to only one tote and few things on my shelves, so I was in desperate need of something new. hahaha
Look at the little embroidery floss broom bristles. So cute.
When I got home, I ran upstairs into my almost 90* kitchen and put together a little vignette with her.
No time like the present.
I figure if I’m going to decorate, I want to enjoy it, so I like to do it early. When you do it last minute, it feels like you turn around, and it’s time to put it away? That’s no fun!
I used one of the trough boxes Jim and I made, some of the Hydrangeas from Summer, (I’m still totally tickled about those!!) a fabric pumpkin and my mercury glass owl. Oh and the wee one I got at a tag sale a few weekend ago for $2 bucks! I think it’s brass or pewter or something? I can’t exactly tell.. but he is heavy.
The mercury glass owl is an ornament, but I made sure he stood on his bottom in the store, and since he did I brought him home because I knew I would enjoy decorating with him. I’m happy to get to look at his cute face again!
I’m slow…ly… working my way into the sun room.
(if you’d like a closer look at it wearing it’s Autumn accessories, click here)
I know Halloween is going to strike soon.
I just love it so!!!!
.
Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks for stopping by.
Psst… a little spider told me there may or may not (there is!) be a giveaway for a Set of 2 Witchy Tea Towels going on over at the Fox Hollow Cottage instagram feed right HERE. Pop over and try your luck!! XO

Hello Shannon,
Hope this finds you well, no injuries……..I agree with you about decorating……My house is full of Fall and Halloween….I’ll wait until after Thanksgiving for Christmas, oh I forgot I do Thanksgiving, too. Keep on Posting…..I love T.J. Maxx, they are all hooked up to one major store…… somehow….

Yes, I narrowly escaped! lol. Decorating for the seasons and holidays is so much fun! I’m not a huge Thanksgiving decorator. Usually the mantel, and some tabletops stuff, since we host. We love that holiday family-wise, it’s the best for gathering.

I would love to live on the coast! We live in Hillsboro. I agree with what you said about Home Goods, it is a fun place to look, but I can get more for my buck at Ross or Marshals.
I love all the white!

YES! HomeGoods is great to get my creative juices going! I usually try to stay under $25 per item, or much lower 😉 It’s my splurge spot, since it’s so far, we make a day of it!!

Ha about your definition about Ross. We don’t have any around here. What a beautiful day to spend with a friend.
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
We are lucky to have it, and, it’s the cleanest, most wonderfully run Ross I have ever been in. (and I’ve been in probably 50 different stores!) lol. Serious. Even Vegas and Hawaii. hahaha
