Christmas Cottage Nights Home Tour
Hello my friends, welcome to the Christmas Cottage Nights Home Tour. I was so flattered to be invited by Rachael at Maison De Pax to participate in the Christmas Nights Tour again this year. Last years was so fun, and truly a favorite event of the season. If you are visiting from Annie’s at Zevy Joy, I’m sure you are still wide eyed with wonder. She has such a pretty home.
Welcome to Fox Hollow Cottage, at night…
I hope today finds you poised and ready for the big day! With all your gifts wrapped and shopping done… and ready to absorb all the joy & magic of this beautiful season.
If you are visiting for the first time, my name is Shannon. I’m the girl who still has Amazon Prime packages arriving and needs to wrap. We live in a cottage style bungalow home in the Pacific Northwest. After you enter the home, and see our dining area, you can pass thru the kitchen, and step down into the sun room. It’s got nine large windows surrounding the room, so it’s aptly named, when the sun is out.
I decorated it very simply this year, with a bit of Christmas just sprinkled about. I actually didn’t blog it this year so… here it is, at night!
Somehow, I’ve accidentally gotten a pretty good vintage crock collection going. I started out putting them on my apothecary cabinet, and even had a few spares to pop trees in too. I know I’ve got one from Portland, Oregon and one from Texas. It’s so neat knowing where they come from with the markings.
My vintage style “jolly” Santa pillow is perfect here because I see him every time I go up & down the stairs. Which is about a bajillion times a day.
Frosty isn’t living stuffed in a tree this year, so he is hanging out on my vintage scale.
Here he was, front and center in my Frosty The Snowman Tree. This is the tree that was supposed to go in the Christmas Guest Bedroom at The Little Cottage, until I realized it just a little bit too large.
The pretty red glass on my hurricanes makes the light glow pink on my shiplap backed cabinets!
And if we peek around the corner, we’ll be in the coziest room upstairs, our living room.
Now, I swear, the 600 lights I put on my little Christmas tree really won’t seer your retinas. It’s much cozier than it appears… my gosh you guys… I just kind of failed on this one. What can I say???
Seriously. Right now… I could either laugh, or cry. So I’m choosing to laugh, and hope you can laugh along with me.
You’ve got sunglasses on right? Okay, good. You should be safe.
And rest assured. I actually did get a letter typed up to Santa, and it’s all tucked in my typewriter now.
Austin & my dad arrive today, and you can bet these pillows will all be piled on the ottoman, and every throw in the house will be in use. The black & white buffalo check is all mine though. I’m not sharing.
Can you believe I have not even had a chance to watch ELF yet this season! I think I’m starting Christmas in October next year… I don’t know where December went?
Thinking I may need to switch out my make-shift coffee table for something more “pop your feet up on it” friendly. I have some serious relaxing to squeeze in, and I can’t wait to catch up with my bug while we all snuggle up by the tree. My mom heart needs it!
Hope you are feeling all Fa La La & Merry & Bright and ready for a wonderful Christmas.
I am ready for movies and baking and eating out and staying in and everything family and festive!
We’ve enjoyed the Cranberry centerpiece so much, that I bought a big new bag full of Cranberries so I can freshen the centerpiece and have it last thru the season. I just love it, and it’s pretty day & night.

I’ll work on the night time photography, but I hope that these photos conveyed even just an inkling of what the cottage feels like a night, lit by only Christmas lights and candles… and my over exuberant camera settings. xo Shannon

Shannon, your home is beautiful and I don’t know what you’re talking about with your photography, it’s gorgeous! I forgot you lived in the Pacific Northwest! I’m in Vancouver, BC so we’re close! Happy holidays.

Yeah? I thought I got it a little crazy bright. It looked so different than the photos I got last year. Oh well… Anyhow. Yes, I’m right on the Oregon Coast and you aren’t that far from me. We need a WEST coast blogger meet-up for eating, shopping and junking… and gabbing 🙂 Merry Christmas!!
