Cottage Christmas Home Tour with Country Living
Hello and welcome to the Cherished Christmas Home Tours hosted by Cherished Bliss & CountryLiving.com – If you are visiting me from Shayna from The Wood Grain Cottage or any of my other tour mates, a big welcome to you!!
Now it’s time for the biggest home tour of the year. The Christmas one!! The most special, magical… Christmasy tour of all. I won’t lie. This one makes me the most nervous too.
The Christmas Home Tour is like “the Oscars” of blogging.
And that is a lot of pressure for my little house. lol!
I know all of you that subscribe to the blog saw our Christmas tree last week, but I think we’ll start there and then walk ourselves around the rest of the house. Sound good? Let’s go!!
I figure I’ll start with the most commented on items since I shared my sneak peek of the tree when it was naked and wearing only a hat, and just get those right out of the way!
They would be, the Top Hat Topper & the Sequined Santa Pillow.
You know how I just buy what I like and smoosh it together? Well, when I spied the sparkly number at HomeGoods, I couldn’t resist. Even though I had 2 lodge-style sweater pillows in my cart already. I didn’t know which direction my decorating would take. And with HG being a 4 hours round trip, I wasn’t taking any chances, so I just bought them all!
(pillows are definitely my splurge item)
Okay, I’m going to try to shush. Not tons of talking.
Don’t faint, I said “try” …
Full size tree or not… I’ll always love little table top size trees!
And pillows.
Again, I will readily admit I’ve got a problem.
And I’ve got no problem with that.
The vintage egg crate was a recent barn find and I bet it never knew it was going to be a Christmas Tree stand?
I ordered two different buffalo plaid blankets and I’ll tell you my thoughts on them soon!
I promise a budget breakdown post by mid-December like I always do.
The old drying rack was a fun find too. Half went down to the booth, and half stayed here. This having a booth is wonderful!! Very convenient for me . A little for me, a little for the booth.
I like that arrangement.
And it’s soft, warm wood couldn’t work better for holding half of the Christmas stockings!
I’ve got my Dad and Austin’s hanging here, and Jim and I’s are over on the mantel. My Dad will be joining us for the holiday this year. I just need to find a “D” for his stocking so he can match us!
The “25” is comprised of vintage marquee letters from the old theater in town that closed down. We have a real connection to that theater. We bought the old owners house (we were the second set of owners) and I was hugely pregnant in the theater watching Independence Day just a short time before Austin was born.
Jimmy & I won the JOY marquee letters from a Boys & Girls Club auction. This is the first time I’ve used them on mantel.
I always have fun with the chalkboard wall, even when I don’t chalk on it.
I used a planked pallet accent again this year, but a different shape.
Still simple though. It’s been a few years since I did an elaborate mantel.
As much as I loved it, there is no “Glass Menagerie” this go around, just some candies for my guys and a layered ornament display. I really do like the “less is more”… I just sometimes keep adding the more. lol
Here is a peek with everything all lit up. I love the candle display in the firebox.
The glow is gorgeous at night. I’ll make sure to share it for the nighttime tour later in the month.
If you know me, you know I’m not big on “tablescapes”.
Oh I enjoy them… they just aren’t my forte.
This is so my speed.
I threw one of the new buffalo plaid blankets on the table to see how I liked it.
Big mistake. It must live there now because I loved it immediately.
I’ve admired this sign & holiday saying and now I have my very own! You can order from the talented Mango Seed Marketplac [here] until December 11th for Christmas delivery. You know, if you need one too.
I have gotten so lucky this season, because I found this fat jolly Santa punch bowl & mug set at Goodwill.
I know! It’s from the 1950’s and there is not a chip on it. I’m in looove and counting my blessings it got to come home with me. Then, I found this cutie for a whopping 50 cents.
And he is just right.
I’m hooked on the very vintagey looking, super jolly, chubby, rosy-cheeked Santa’s.
And the very vintage prices too.
Our cottage is definitely a mix of thrifted, diy, barn sale and discount store goodness.
And I wouldn’t want it any other way!
That is it for me and my wee cottage today folks! Don’t forget to check back here all week, there are 27 tours total and I’ll make sure to host links to all the tours, every day this week for easy click browsing.

Everything is so lovely and inviting! Not a Christmas question, but where did you find the wicker armchair caddy/tray?
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Out junking.
I think at a garage sale, could have been an estate sale?
But thrifted for sure.
I’ve never seen another one!
