Holiday Housewalk Christmas at the Cottage
Hello and welcome to the Holiday Housewalk & Christmas at the Cottage. I’m so excited to be joining Jennifer Rizzo for Holiday Housewalk 2016. This series is a long running holiday tradition and I’m so thrilled to be included with such a wonderful group of fellow bloggers! There are 31 of us all together and there are new houses being added daily!!
If you are visiting from stop #3 at Craftberry Bush, hello! Isn’t Lucy an amazing source of inspiration? I adore her and have several of her beautiful creations. She is such a gifted artist!
If you are new here, I’d like to officially welcome you to our home, Fox Hollow Cottage. My name is Shannon and today I’m sharing our main floor entryway here at the cottage. Our front door opens into our home, with our living room located to the the left and our fireplace to the right…
This is an area of our home I’m forever fiddling with, and this is it’s latest look. With the addition of the new button tufted cutie, I created a cozy spot to read, sit a spell, or pop on your shoes before heading out the door. And if we ever decide to make a fire, I can turn it around and it’ll be in the perfect fire gazing location!
It’s exactly what I was looking for. I’ve been on the hunt for some time. I knew I wanted tufted, neutral and rolled arms! I love rolled arms. In fact, I liked it so much I bought two!!
I’ll tell you a secret… I don’t think it’ll stay in this location for too long after the holidays, because I’ve got plans for it to meet up with it’s twin down at The Little Cottage and become BFF’s with the velvet sofa I found over the Summer.
But it’s darling here for now. It’ll be perfect when my dad comes so he can sit down to put his shoes on, plus, it just looks pretty. And that isn’t a bad thing.
In case you didn’t already pick this up… I love mixing old & new!
And by my new chairs side, is my thrifted Underwood typewriter! It’s just waiting to help me out with a letter to Santa. I’m trying to come up with a good excuse for being naughty this year. I’m still thinking…
This candle has the loveliest, soft fir scent… and a crackling wood wick! It was keeping me company while I took photos to share. If you ever run across this brand I highly recommend it. It’s subtle and not overpowering at all.
The mantel this year is pretty simple. I started with an inexpensive faux garland, added white lights, stuffed it with pine cones and some mini bottle brush trees, and a few red robins. I had everything on hand. You might even recognize some of the items from my Christmas tour last year.
I added a bit of white to the mix as well. I wanted to blend it a bit with the flocked tree I did on the other side of the house, over in the living room.
There it is now, or at least a peek anyway…
I just love this old wooden rack for hanging the stockings. All I need to do is figure out where I put our glittery initials? I’m sure I tucked them someplace safe. I’m hoping to find them prior to Christmas Eve.
This spot ended up being perfect for my little dear couple. I searched for 3 years to find a set at the right price, and I finally stumbled on this pair last Summer!
Their little brass bodies just glow in the candlelight.
I tucked our farmhouse shelf in this little niche to make room for the tree, and it got dusted with a little Christmas too.
Have to keep my holiday inspiration handy, so I’ve got my Creatively Christmas, written by the one and only Jen Rizzo on hand to keep the ideas flowing! There are so many wonderful things to try.
There is nothing like a little glitter to get you in the holiday mood. So I’ll wish you all a glittery holiday season, filled with sparkle and shine!!
Thank you so much for taking a stroll through our cottage with me. I hope our little house conveyed our joy for the season!
Please make sure to stop by the house #5 on the tour, with Jeanne Oliver. There is such a diversity of taste and talent from all the bloggers taking part in this years Holiday Housewalk, that there is something for everyone.
