Goodbye September and Hello October (2015)
Today I’m saying goodbye to September… and Hello to October!
Does it ever feel to you, like things move fast and slow all at once? That is how September was for me. We had some hurry up and wait going on for sure. I’ll tell you more about that towards the end.
At the beginning of the month, I made some changes to the main entry in our home that I had long contemplated, in part to make our lives easier, in part for anticipation of things to come. You can see all the changes I made [here].
Which lead to another small change that made a big difference!
Then I welcomed fall into the rest our home and shared it in the Flutter of Fall Home Tour [here].
And it flowed into the kitchen and sun room.
Our apothecary cabinet is always one of my favorite things to decorate! Sometimes it’s done more subtly than others… but either way, it makes such a great backdrop for seasonal decor. See our Autumn Apothecary [here]
And things were good.
Behind the scenes, we’ve been getting estimates and deciding who to trust with our hearts. Becasue that is what you put into something like this when you plan and save and work to make it a reality. After choosing, we’ve been meeting with our landscape contractor and discussing site prep for our workshop. Over half of our second lot is little improved besides the little cottage, and will be the home of our new workshop. All the landscape work will be done so to make it look as good as our budget will allow. I was on count down all September waiting for the work to begin. When you do something like this, something you’ve wanted for so long… the wait for work to start is excruciating. Even a few days set back feels like weeks.
Even with meetings and plans and lots of discussions, it’s hard to believe it’s really going to happen! Is happening! Yikes.
On the blog, I participated with 31 other bloggers to share a plethora of inspiration in the Fall Ideas Tour [here].
I’m sure you remember the tablescape I was not impressed with… lol.
It’s a good thing I had teammates who are fabulous at tablescapes (plus mantels, crafts & wreaths)!
Right now, I’m working on something to facilitate “Tablescape part II” where upon I have set the bar so high to redeem myself (in my own mind) that I might never post it… hahaha.
I’ll also be giving the house a little spook for my fav time of year and I’ve got some pumpkins that are waiting to be made-over. One of my favorite crafty things ever is working with pumpkins!! I’m looking forward to doing something fun like the painted pumpkins I did last year [here].
I spend a bit of time down at our booth space at Vintage 101 fluffing and filling too. I’m still loving having an outlet for creations and finds that I can’t stuff in my house! Best of both worlds. I can pick up the fabulous things I stumble on, feel like I’m saving them, and not have to fit every single on in my home.
A few might take a bit to actually get down to the shop. {wink wink}
But that is okay too. I call that a job perk. If it’s already vintage and pre-loved… what’s a little more love showered on it before I put it up for adoption? Below is a peek at a part of our space right before I filled it up again a few days later. It’s always changing!
We recently found a 12 foot church pew that I’m hoping to work on that this weekend while the machines aren’t running and kicking up dust. It’s one I can only work on outside (perfect example of why we need a shop) because it’s too big to work on anywhere in the house.
This area here is already much-changed! I can’t wait to put together a post sharing our progress so far with some more detailed photos I took real quick before the work began! It might not be as pretty as a room reveal, but it’s what we are doing right now, and so meaningful & much anticipated for us. We have dreamed about this for years. Pretty much since we bought the property. You can get up to speed on the little cottage & shop project [here].
Thanks for spending part of your day stopping by!!
October is already full of so much excitement & big changes are happening!! Pinch me!! It is so hard to believe I can really dream & plan for the little cottage & the possibilities. I shared the latest with you [here].
Enough about me though…
I am wishing you a picturesque fall weekend filled with everything wonderful!
Enjoy your posts, but the advertisements are so many, and very annoying.
Thank you! I’m sorry about that, I’ll see what I can do about making them less intrusive. I opt out of video ads and many styles, trying to keep it manageable. My apologizes.
I love your house and your blog. I enjoy seeing what you’re up to for October. Your home is so lovely.
Hi Maggie, Thank you! I always appreciate nice comments, often times, they really make my day and keep me going 🙂
Your home makes me sigh,, I can’t figure out how I can incorporate coastal/farmhouse in my southwest style home. Love your home. ?
Hmm. What about your home is Southwestern? Is it the construction, or your current decor style?
