It’s a Shiny Brite Christmas {with a Retro Vintage-Vibe}

I’m Rocking Some Retro 
at the Cottage This Christmas!

 

I’m loving the energy in the sun room this Christmas. 
It’s sort of “retro”.. with a dash of vintage thrown in!


I was really excited to decorate 
the sun room for Christmas this year! 
It’s the first big holiday since we added 
our fancy “new” counter top.

The one we made out of old fence boards.
I’m sure it’ll be “the next big thing”! {haha}

I tell you what though..
It sure is fun to decorate!
I love all the texture and I wish we had done it sooner.

 

This is a really easy look to achieve. 
Pretty cheap too.
Just gather up all your thrift store finds 
and your Shiny Brites.

 
Warning; Loads of ornaments are a must 😉
Regular ornaments as filler work too, not all mine are vintage. 
I just make sure to give the vintage ones the spot light!
 
Ornaments are wonderful to decorate with.
They make everything look so.. festive.
 
 
I used Aqua, Lime, Silver & Gold.
Pile them up on silver platters, plates,
put them in bowls, pop them under glass…
(A cloche will make them look extra special)
There are lots of possibilities!
 
Add a dash of faux snow for a frosty effect if you like. 
 
with them, and ta-da. They’re transformed.
At least.. in my eyes they are!
 
I also removed the “hanger upper part thingies” off the star ornaments, and used them as toppers on the two little silver trees. I just shoved them right onto the top!
 
 
And always remember…
 Spray Paint Works Wonders!
The crown was originally a garish gold.
I prefer silver, so I spray painted it.
 
 
Just like the big branch below…

 


Well, it wasn’t gold, but you know what I mean. 
I used it last Spring as an Easter Tree. 

It was a real $&#^@ stinker to store too.
It as great having it on hand and ready to go without spray painting 
another one though. So it was worth it.


The silver platter was a Goodwill find 
and the mercury glass piece is technically 
a Christmas tree topper..
 but I love it as-is.

So there ya go! I re use my regular everyday items, 
hunt the thrift stores, improvise…
 and stuff anything that will stand still 
with ornaments at Christmastime.
