Welcome To Christmas In Our Cottage Kitchen
Hello & happy Christmastime! If you are visiting today from my Thursday tour mates Making Home Base or The Wood Grain Cottage, welcome! I’ve know Chelsea and Shayna through the world of blogging for years! It’s so fun sharing & gathering inspiration, especially at this time of year. I know I get so many great ideas from touring all the other homes! I hope you do too.
My kitchen is always a real challenge to photograph… for a few reasons, but I did my best for you! So what if the pretty berry red wreath with glass bead glitter looks like a solar flare. I’m sure you’ll let the slide right?
I’m actually so happy I decorated the uppers this year because it’s pretty in person. Though.. I should probably add some white Christmas lights. One can never have too many strings of twinkle lights… In fact, think someone should drill a hole in the bottom of the cabinets for me so I can run some up there. Don’t you think so too?
I’m really lucky I’ve got two great corners I can basically do whatever I want in. They are kind of set-back out of the way, so they are free game for decorating. And as long as I don’t hide the coffee & etc’s from my husband, he doesn’t care what I do in here. Works for me!
I’ve still got present wrapping to do, but now that all my decorating is done, I can throw myself into some holiday baking! I have a few recipes that are yearly must-makes, though I’m still trying to decide if my waistline can handle me trying to recreate my Aunt Donna’s fudge?
Pretty sure it wouldn’t taste the same anyhow… we swear she does something special when she stirs it!
The drying rack is a new addition.
It was downstairs, patiently waiting to be installed down at the Little Cottage…
Until we measured it and realized it was a perfect fit and decided it looked great right here!
It was installed a few moments later.
You snooze waiting for building permits for the shop, Little Cottage… and you lose.
My vintage winky Santa mug is one of my very, very favorite Christmas pieces. I love to put him someplace I see him a lot, and since we moms all seem to live in the kitchen, here he sits!
All I have to say about this photo, is that my tacky hand soap plays Christmas carols when you push it!
Push it good. P-push it real good.
Sorry. Could not resist.
Yes, I know… Santa is watching me 😉
He assures me I am still on the nice list though.
A little wiggle around the corner here, and you’ll hit the bar when you step-down into the sun room.
This spot works great as a buffet style serving station when we have company. Otherwise, it’s just fun to decorate. We have never regretted covering up those laminate counter tops!
I’ve got big plans for these pretty little red dishes on Christmas morning but I’m happy to let them double as decor until then. I adore the delicate pattern. It’s like… “subtle holiday“.
The woodland Doe, candles, greenery, candy canes and etc’s… all make for a merry feel.
There are little fairy lights woven in the greenery on the bar and twinkle lights in the garland on the apothecary cabinet so the sun room doesn’t feel left out when all the other Christmas lights are on.
If I’m up early, I like to turn them all on in the morning, when the house is quiet. I’m sure many of you do the same.
And the closer it gets to Christmas… the more I leave them on all day long!
Please take a few moments to visit the others on the

So lovely, Shannon! I have a scale that you’ve inspired me to put of for the holidays. Also, I adore your drying rack. I’ve been wondering how I could use one, thanks for the solution! Holiday blessings to you!
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Merry Christmas to you! I’d love to see your scale, swing by the FHC Facebook page and share a photo if you get time 🙂

Simply magical! You have such an amazing way with decorating. It’s just so warm and welcoming! I’ve been admiring those dishes with the little Christmas mice on them at my local Home Goods. Can I justify another set? My husband just said he has nightmares that the kitchen cabinets are going to come crashing down from all the weight in them!! Have a wonderful Christmas!
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
hahahahaha…. tell him to reinforce them, you’re going to HomeGoods. lol
I only got the cream & sugar and one Santa plate for an accent… I didn’t dare buy more dishes.
No room at the inn.

It all looks wonderful, Shannon! I have never felt the urge to buy a scale before, but your vignettes using them just might make me have to rectify that situation! Troublemaker! lol

hahaha.
That I am 😉

Oh My Goodness, adorable!
Please, please let me know where you got the sign that says, “I only do mornings on December 25th!”
Have the perfect person for that!
Merry Christmas, Katie
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Hi Katie, I found that at HomeGoods! Good luck, hope you can locate one 🙂

Stopping by to get inspired to haul out a bit of decor for the holidays…noticed your kitchen cabinets appear to be painted builder’s oak, as we hope to do early next year. Did you paint them? I was glad to have a sample picture to show my “imagination impaired” DH… LOL He liked it! YAY! Merry Christmas! Thank you for the inspiration,,, again!
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Hi!
That is a factory finish.
The cabinets are Kraft Maid.
It’s kind of a sheer glaze/wash.
I can’t recall the color. It may be discontinued.
I think it was the last time I checked.
