HomeGoods Makes The Holidays Happy
It’s no secret my heart rate increases when a HomeGoods is in sight, so it’s no surprise that it’s my #1 holiday shopping destination. I’ve been shopping there forever. I figure at least 15 years. And in all those years I have always been able to find things that feel unique, special… and miraculously, exactly what I need, no mater the current trends or how my style my have changed.
Speaking of style, they have a fun new tool to identify your home design personality, and with that, help you with decorating, hosting and gifting ideas for the holidays.
It’s called the Stylescope Quiz and I was actually really curious to see…
just what IS my style?
I took the quiz by selecting five of the photos that you see below that I was most attracted to. You can take it online too by clicking right here. No sign-ups or anything. It was pretty fun and really interesting!
Turns out I’m FARMHOUSE GLAM
Farmhouse Glam is the delicate, exquisite balance between beautiful femininity and rustic nonchalance. She’s all about the discovery of unexpected sparkle amidst the less polished. She wears high heels and a denim jacket, a string of pearls and bare feet. And her home feels as special as it does comfortable.
I do love to be barefoot. And if Glitter paired with Junk = FARMHOUSE GLAM. Then ding-ding-ding. We definitely have a winner!!
With a side of VEGAS BABY
Vegas Baby is ready, willing, and unafraid to go over the top! She gambles with design. She gets the biggest bang for her buck. She mixes dark hues, animal prints, and sparkly, metallic accents. And, she is fun, fun, fun, and everyone that visits can’t help but get lost in the nightlife noir of her wonderfully wild world.
Pretty sure that’s my sparkle addition talking. Don’t know how “wonderfully wild” my world is. Although, I do love a good Zebra print. Okay… Leopard too. I really do like to mix it up though. They sure got that right. I’ll pair brand new with thrifted any day, and I love that HomeGoods always has something new I can add to the mix!
Now, onto the shopping!! My heart was beating faster for sure when I spied all this holiday goodness. Eek. I can’t stand it. I like every thing. It’s all so full of Christmas-y goodness.
I did a little…
one for the house.
One Christmas present.
One for the house.
One Christmas present.
Which was really easy actually, as the store was full of towers and displays with all sorts of holiday perfect gift ideas.
I can’t tell you what I got though, because they have to stay secret!
The toy department was well stocked with a big variety for boys and girls. I saw educational toys, toddler toys and some great stuff that encouraged creativity as well! You can also think about looking online at Infant Core where they can tell you the best push car for toddlers if you have an active and busy little one!
I found specialty baking extras, dips, sauces, chocolate and candies.
Fine fragrance, techy stuff like headphones and tons of useful (and some extra cute) cell phone accessories.
Plus stocking stuffer ideas galore!!
I did run into a certain Leopard print Juicy Couture bag that was calling my name. It was the VEGAS talking though, so I turned a deaf ear and continued on… I’m so strong. LOL! There is more of that sparkle I was talking about too. Cuteness. Gah. Love it!!
Now, onto getting my family a holiday ready home! We needed some Christmas magic in the sun room. STAT. We usually put our Christmas tree in there since the ceiling is vaulted (and it’s really the only room it will fit in). We had planned to buy a Noble Fir this year, but I stopped in my tracks when I saw this frosty delight, which lead to doing something a bit different this year.
It all started with this itty-bitty lil’ pine cone tree. Harmless right?
Well it had friends. And they were really close friends.
The kind that didn’t want to be separated.
And who am I to break up a cozy little tree family at Christmas? Not that person. No, no, no.
So home with me they came.
Fat & Fluffy, Tall & Skinny and Itty-Bitty
All fluffed up and plugged in.
Mixed in with a little of this and a little of that.
We now officially have some Christmas magic going on!
I dabbled with the mixed metals again.
Pale and Yellow Gold, Silver, Mercury Glass and Frosted Diamond White.
The trees were just so cute. Pre-lit, faux with snow. How could I not? Plus, I had this old wood ladder I’d been dying to do something with. I crossed my fingers the ladder and the trees would play nice together. I think they do. Yay.
I added some vintage Shiny Brite ornies and pine cones to Fat & Fluffy and topped it off with an old ruler.
Oh my gosh! Guess what? HomeGoods has SHINY BRITES. I about died.
So if you are having trouble finding vintage ones. Problem solved!
So cute. And of course they have the vintage-vibe.
Oh, and mercury glass goodies too.
More sparkle? Yes please.
Do you recognize the lantern? It’s making an appearance again.
Can not stress enough. I love those things!!
I sort of swiped this one of the hearth. I switched a few things up because I just had to have it in the sun room. They are just so perfect everywhere. I couldn’t help it.
Austin approved of the new look and said he thought it was pretty fantastic. I’m glad my boys are happy to let my decorate however the whim strikes me. I did assure him we could still put all the presents there so I think that was the clincher.
I am so happy that once again I was able to get that mix that feels custom and special by combining my new HomeGoods finds with vintage and thrifted finds for a balance that feels perfectly me.
With a little glitter of course.
I’m so thankful for the opportunity to work with one of my very favorite stores to bring Christmas into my home. To pay that forward, Jim and I are going to donate what we would have spent on a Christmas tree to a locally run tree lot. There is a great guy here in town that makes sure, even if you’ve only got $5, that you will have a Christmas tree. We want to help him be able to give a few more out! I’m really excited to go do that this weekend.
Now let’s get you HomeGoods Happy!!
I’ll be selecting two lucky winners. Each winner will receive a $50 HomeGoods gift card.

I turned out to be a farmhouse glam too! But some of its designs doesn’t seem to fit my taste well. It’s just that it’s pretty untidy to put those concepts inside our home. I dunno how stylescoope works but that wasn’t entirely me! 😀 Ha! Thanks for that tool, Shannon! And thanks for all the ideas too!

I spent Thursday and Friday of last week visiting 3 Home Goods stores in our area. It always amazes me that each store has great items, but they manage to have unique personalities. On Thursday, at one store, I purchased a blue and white ginger jar lamp for my bedroom and a table pad for my dining room table. I visited another store and purchased a shelf for my laundry room/half bath. On Friday, at a third Home Goods location, wonderful Christmas wrapped chocolates, interesting flavored salts, scented soaps, and lovely towels for the guest room jumped into my cart and demanded to come home with me. I wish I could rig up an alarm so that anytime my favorite Home Goods locations had a new delivery it would let me know.

Oh you lucky duck! When I am in Southern California we have many to choose from. Here in Oregon, I’ve got a 2 hour drive each way to get to one! Sounds like you found some really great stuff. Funny, my stuff jumps in the cart too. lol
