You can make this super-simple wreath to celebrate Valentine’s day for about $5.00!
All you need is:
1. A Dollar Tree pool noodle ($1.00)
(or wreath form of choice)
2. Yarn (mine is from Big Lots, $1.00)
3. Burlap
4. Felt
5. Jute Bakers Twine (or ribbon)
6. Fabric scrap (for bow)
7. Glue gun
8. Strip of packing tape.
Step One – Form your pool noodle into a circle.
Work it and flex it to first to get it to relax. Secure firmly with clear packing tape. I use this for all my noodle wreaths and have had great luck with it!
Step Two – Cut strips of burlap and wind around noodle. (I use a fabric to cover my noodles and act as a base.) Wrap and glue until noodle is covered. Does not need to be fancy, just smooth as you wrap. It won’t even show on this project. Below you can see the wrapping technique I used on a similar wreath. I’ve made a few noodle wreaths. I sort of got hooked on them 😉
You can see them here, here and here.
Step Three – Wrap your burlap covered base in yarn. I used a zig-zag yarn and spaced it slightly so the burlap color/texture could be seen. I liked the layered look it offered.
Step Four – Wrap a section in piece of burlap. Approx 4 inches wide. Adorn with jute baker twine. Learn how to make your own DIY Jute Bakers Twine HERE.
Step Five – Adorn with felt and burlap flowers.
Learn how to make your own felt flowers with this step-by-step photo tutorial HERE. And with another felt flower tutorial HERE.
Just cut, roll and glue. They really are simple. Promise!!
I hung my new wreath on a Goodwill makeover. I freshened up the frame with some spray paint and I added some chalkboard paint to the surface of my $10 find.
It only needed some fancy chalk writing.
…it ended up just getting me.
I drew a few hearts and added “love” in my own, everyday writing instead. Maybe I learn some of those fancy chalk writing skills another time? I sure do like that look!

SO MANY great ideas, Shannon! Thanks for sharing all of them with us. I am pinning lots of them. Hey, I saw a box of pool noodles already (this is mid-February) at Dollar Tree the other day. They are the cheapest wreath base for the size. I love all of yours. Congrats on being featured over at “Under the Table and Dreaming”.
