Classic Black and Orange Halloween Decorating
BOO! I decorated for Halloween, and I used classic black & orange to do it. It’s all “candy and Halloween hijynx” over here at the cottage.
Okay, okay… it’s just candy.
Now, I know I just shared the sun room for “Fall”, but it had been decorated like that for some time before I actually got it blogged. Trust me, it was thoroughly enjoyed. I had wanted to do the mantel and a tablescape (I’m really having so much fun with those!) for Halloween, but with my dad here… I’d be kicking him out of the dining room and displacing him from his computering spot. And I didn’t want to do that, so I settled on the apothecary cabinet. It’s kind of mantel-y.
As much as I have always loved the fun of Halloween, I didn’t decorate last year!
And by golly that was not happening this year!
Plus… I had brand new stuff I bought LAST year that I never played with, and it was pretty much killing me. hahaha
The B E W A R E banner has a vintage vibe I love!
I grabbed it at HomeGoods for $7.99 – I couldn’t craft one for that!
It’s all layered, with wood, paint, doilies, ribbon, tulle and glittery goodness!!
I was either using it this season… or it was getting used for Christmas.
And I don’t think Santa would appreciate my Beware garland at all.
The witchy-poo shoe candles have been waiting to walk the Halloween runway too!
And there are my galvanized lanterns again.
See? I told you I’d use them a ton. {winks}
For those of you that hang out with me on the Fox Hollow Cottage Facebook page, you’ll recognize the black and white buffalo check plates from the latest Facebook Live Video [here]. (Thanks again Debbie, for the heads-up on those!) They didn’t even make it till’ Christmas – So cute!! They have a wee little thin gold rim on them.
See how easy it can be to add little touches to a space and have a whole new look? I didn’t strip the cabinet down to nothing, I just took out the Fall… and added some spook!
This is the very first thing I see when I come upstairs, so it’s extra fun to decorate.
My black & white pillow covers are getting quite the workout.
Gotta love a good basic! This little gal approves of the color scheme too.
This little birdie is going to squawk all my secrets…
Shannon just loves Thanksgiving gathering with her family, and really taking stock of all their blessings. She always looks forward to it.. but she is feeling realllly excited about Christmas this year!! Don’t be surprised if you see it early. She’s like a little kid and can hardly wait for things once she get them in her head.
What a little tattle tale! I’ll have to watch what I say around him.
Wishing you a Happy Harvest time!! xo Shannon

super cute Shannon, I love the buffalo check with all the fun Halloween goodies. It’s just not Fall/Halloween without some orange!
I feel the same way, even if I try to do something different, I’m soooo drawn to the classics 🙂
I enjoy your blog so much and your delightful cottage. No matter how you decorate, its always inviting. I know you and your DH have worked very hard to make your cottage an unique home. Love your style no matter the season – it just perfect. Thanks for sharing with us.
Connie I truly appreciate your kind words. It sure gives me such a boost to keep going, and keep sharing, when I read things like this. I know it takes time to leave a personal comment and they mean a lot to me!! 🙂 Shannon
Really cute! I love the black and white with the bright orange to make it pop. I just do the Fall decor to take me through Thanksgiving with a few touches for Halloween that I can pull out after Nov. 1st. I enjoy my orange string lights on mantle with leaves and on dining room window seat as well. One of my fake jack o lanterns is now fifty years old and was used in our first home! It is older than my kids. Ha!
Oh my goodness, I LOVE the little tidbit about the vintage Jack O Lantern!!!!
What a treasure. Happy Fall!!
I love all that you share with “us”………..and how generous you are with where you purchase the adorable lovelies. Keep posting !
Thank you Mary – Wishing you a happy Fall!
