Happenings At The Hollow 7
Happenings At The Hollow 7 Hello my foxy friends! I've been meaning to write this for some time, knowing that I really needed to touch-base with you all, and kind of let you know what's going on with me. It's been almost 5 years since I did a 'Happenin...

So sorry to hear about your knee problems. I am sure you will do fine. I think the most important thing is therapy….do your therapy!! Hugs and prayers for a successful surgery. Anxious for you to be back…good as new!!

So sorry for your pain. I’m sending prayers your way for the best possible outcome. Please let us know how things are going. I’m facing 2 knee replacements but am not nearly as brave as you are. Take care!
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Oh girl I am not brave 😉
I’ve put it off until I’m hobbling around… hehe. But not funny.
You can do it! We need our quality of life back, right!

Shannon, my husband had his acl replaced a few years ago and is doing fantastic. My brother is having his knee replaced in two weeks. He’s put the surgery off for three years. The pain he’s currently in is seen on his face all the time. The Dr in the LA area will use durmabond aka super glue instead of staples. Though he won’t be driving for at least 6 weeks, he’ll be in PT within 3 weeks. Get your pain meds the day before your surgery so you don’t have to wait to have them filled. Praying for you in Hilmar CA.
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Hey Allyson! I too am hoping for something besides staples! I don’t want to get them taken out. LOL
Thank you for your prayers 🙂

You’ve sure got a lot on your plate right now. Hope you can have the MRI soon so things can get back on track for you.
Years ago (18) I fell down a short flight of stairs and broke my kneecap. To makes matters worse when it was time later to have the pins removed tests showed half my kneecap died. Another surgery to remove the dead part and secure what was left. We live in a trilevel home so I know exactly how difficult life has been for you. My brother in law had both knees replaced, and his recovery time was much faster than my surgeries. I hope you will find the same recovery. Keep us posted. A lot of people care for you!!!
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Oh poor Peggy! That sounds so traumatic. Thank you so very much! I am waiting for my referral and just sort of in limbo now?
Staying as busy as I can, and being careful. Mostly. hehe

Shannon, I’m so sorry to hear about your upcoming surgery, but hopefully, you will be a “new” woman once you have healed! I will most certainly keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I’m always excited to see what new project you’ve been up to and look forward to seeing more when you are up to it. Try not to get frustrated – we’ll be here waiting – no matter how long it takes for you to be well! 🙂
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Thank you Patty! I’m hoping for some news this week. The just waiting is so hard!
Happy Spring, Shannon

I have had both knees replaced within the last 5 years. I’m 72 years old now and am doing great. The key is to faithfully do your pt. Needless to say, it was not fun, but I tried to keep in mind “this too shall pass”. In time you will be so glad you did it because your “regular “ self will be back. Have plenty of things to do like reading, etc. It’s so much better than just watching a lot of tv. I’m praying you will have a quick, complete recovery. God bless you.
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
I’m so glad you are doing well!! I plan to be vigilant with my PT, and the pre-op PT as well. And I’m a voracious reader, so that part might be nice. haha. Time to read!

Shannon, I had both knees replaced 6 months apart. At the time we lived in a two story Dutch colonial. The night I came home from the hospital (first knee) we had tornado warnings and had to go in our storm shelter. Fun times. Stairs were never an issue, my surgeon encouraged me to use them. The more active you are from the start the better off you’ll be. Each surgery is a different story for everyone. I have to admit at first I thought what have I done?!? Now I’m back to hiking and shopping is fun again. Hang in there!
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Oh my gosh, that must have bee so extra stressful!! The kitchen and shower are upstairs, and my bedroom downstairs, so I think I’ll be using them like it or not 😉
Thank you for sharing you story with me!! I can’t wait to be back to working hard as much as I want 🙂

Shannon—
I’m so sorry for all the pain you’re going through and the postponed surgery. I’m sure you are more than anxious and stressed. I will keep you in my prayers. Thinking of you.
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Thank you so much, it’s greatly appreciated 🙂 ~Shannon

Hi Shannon! I have not had a knee replacement myself, but my Mum had both of her knees replaced, the first in her early 80’s and the second in her later 80’s! She breezed through it, and I’m sure you will too. They had her moving her leg almost immediately, and she didn’t complain at all about pain. You’re quality of life will be so much better. I’m sure you’ll be back to normal very soon! Hugs!
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
Wow, that is amazing to hear. What a testament to her perseverance 🙂 She sounds like quite the lady!

Prayers for your health from Southern Ohio! I haven’t had any replacement surgeries but have heard good reports from many. Most agree that therapy in a heated pool rocks. Many life centers and most universities have heated pools. Some locals have solar blankets to heat their pools. In Canada a few years ago I saw an above ground pool with a wood-burning stove heating it!
