Make Your Own Shabby Vintage Candles
Psst… it’s me again.
With another cheap&easy.
Believe it or not, these candles take all of two minutes to make. Really!
Much faster than the two weeks it took me to get a tutorial up for you guys.
My mom and I made these and many more styles while she was here visiting.
I first shared these when I showed you the sun room all done-up for Valentine’s Day.
They are pale pink and pretty as a poesy.
That and the shimmer just does me in!
So you want to make some too right?
(just don’t take pictures of them. well, maybe you are a better photographer. hahaha )

SUPPLIES:
- Dollar Tree Pillar Candle. (or similar)
- Paint. You can use any craft paint suitable for glass. Chalk paint works well too. I used Maison Blanche and customized the shade of pink I wanted by adding a few drops of red craft paint.
- Brush.
- Adhesive. Your Choice of Mod Podge or Spray Glue. I’ve used both with good results.
- Vintage Mica Glitter. You can use regular glitter, but in feel like the vintage mica gives it that truly authentic vintage-shabby look.
STEPS:
- Paint your candle. Let Dry.
- Choose your adhesive.
- For Mod Podge: Apply all over. While tacky, sprinkle with vintage mica Set aside. Let dry.
- For Spray Glue: Spray glue lengthwise, one section at a time. Spray, sprinkle with vintage mica, turn, repeat until candle is covered.
TIPS:
- Application: Sprinkle your mica snow on your surface over wax paper so you can put any unused mica back in the container.
- Spray Glue: I hold my project down in an open cardboard box and I’m able to use my spray glue right in the house. If you are doing a lot, crack a window or make sure you are in a well ventilated space!
- Waterproof eye makeup remover gets any spray glue or over-spray off your hands and fingernails.
- I’ve seen (and experimented with) a cheap version of the vintage mica but it is darker and has large chunks and silver in it. It might be good for some projects, but it does not compare to what I use.
- To buy exactly what I’ve used for years: Click Here to buy Vintage Mica Snow – I don’t get anything, just sharing the site so you don’t have to hunt around. It’s worth it too. It goes a long, long way.
I hope you’ll try making some! Maybe for you, or a friend.
They would make a sweet Valentine’s Day “thinking of you gift”.
Have a wonderful day, and as always, thank-you for stopping by today!!

I made ’em. They are not nearly as elegant as yours (I didn’t have the micah), but they were fun to make and cute!
Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage says
