I’m not even going to say I can’t believe Halloween is in 2 days. Wait, does typing that out count as saying it? Well, either way, I know the minute it’s over… it’s going to be a Christmas free-for-all. And I’m over here walking the line between sharing Christmas ideas, craft and shopping sources — and also not wanting to trample Thanksgiving.
But in all fairness, Thanksgiving is (unless you have to travel) a one-day deal with the meal and family. We love our Thanksgiving time, don’t get me wrong. It’s such a special day for us to all gather, and I love the focus on thankfulness! And yes, there is love and care put into all the preparations. But the amount of effort, planning, baking, crafting, cooking… with the addition of family obligations, school functions, parties, shopping, wrapping, general light stringing, tree trimming and hall decking is much amplified, and therefore takes much more time and energy.
I myself am all for starting early (especially with my job) so as the season progresses, it can be deeply and thoroughly enjoyed! Without last minute stress. I don’t know about you, but I don’t care for extra stress at all.
Let it be known though, that I have zero judgement about how or when anyone decorates. You can color Easter Eggs in August if that makes you happy!
Wishing you love & light — blessing to all, xo Shan
Enjoyed the tours. I like to decorate for the holidays and cannot wait to decorate for Christmas, but I do that the day after Thanksgiving. I also like to enjoy one holiday at a time. I do enjoy seeing others decorate early to give me an idea of what I would like to try or buy for our home, especially you, Shannon.
Betty, growing up we always decorated the day after, and I always decorated like that too (and probably still would if it weren’t for work). It’s so nice that people seem open to letting everyone decorate as they like, I’m noticing more acceptance in the online community.
You of course are so gracious, and always so kind to me! Blessings, Shannon
