A Happy Vintage 4th of July To You!
While Jim and I are stripping the house to prepare for our new floors, I still really needed to have at least a tiny pinch of patriotic!
I got a tatty old flag at a local haunt a few seasons ago (technically supposed to be destroyed, I know!) but I love it. I certainly don’t think I’m read widely enough to get hate mail for it. It’s happily hanging from my big, glass cabinet so it’s got a proper, happy home. And quiet frankly, it’s my house. So there. lol
(hint: that means don’t comment the Flag Code to me, I know it. thankyouverymuch)
I can’t do much decorating around the upper floor of our home for this holiday and probably not for the rest of Summer for that matter. The deck if full of tools, and the living room is almost bare. I know it’ll be worth it though!
I’ve had these vintage style bottle brush trees tucked away since last year and I simply had to get them out. Even if it was just for a day! I placed them on a thrifted silver server and that was that. Simple. And just enough to make me happy.
Austin is vacationing down in Southern California visiting my family and is headed up to Mammoth with my sister for the holiday. Which is going to work out really well since we have half the living room stacked to the ceiling in his room! His visit was planned before our “lets get new hard wood floors plan hatched” but it’s going to work out very well.
I’m not certain if Jim and I will watch fireworks this year? We usually have a big BBQ and fireworks show (some homemade, but I’ll leave it at that. hahaha) at our place but we are obviously skipping it this year. We’ll make up for it next year though with a super huge party!! We are just really keen on getting our DIY-on and really getting this project underway. It’s going to be a lot of work but we are pretty excited!!
I did want to take a moment to make sure and wish everyone a most joyous, celebratory… and most of all, a safe 4th of July.
As always, thanks for stopping by!!
PS: Of you’re looking for a quicky craft that you can make in time for tomorrows festivities, Kimberly shared a super cute and affordable 4th of July burlap runner with the perfect pinch of patriotic flair!!
Oh I love your 4th of July trees!
These are the cutest things ever!! Hooray for the red, white & blue!

DIY ideas with no sewing … me love!
Hi Shannon. I don’t know what happened but for some reason you dropped off my blogging roll. You are now back on-how weird! xo Diana
Mammoth is beautiful in any season.
I love your little patriotic bottle trees.
Shannon I LOVE everything about your bottle brush trees and old flag, I would be hanging onto that as well. Have a wonderful 4th of July!!
xo, Tanya
Love your decoration … Nothing wrong with a tattered flag. I hate the thought of burning a flag. I did not get around to decorating, but posted about my red, white and blue enamelware so I could wish everyone a happy fourth. I also made sure our flag was flying.
Have a happy day.
Blessings,
Audrey Z. @ Timeless Treasures.
Can I just say I “love” your little bottle trees!!! <3 I know I'm sick….I think it's cause it's so darn hot here but I always start looking forward to the holidays after about 3 weeks of 90 degrees! Your little trees celebrate the 4th but excite me for Christmas (I know….I'm sick)!! Happy 4th to you Shannon! Have fun with your floors!!~~Ang
Happy Fourth of July, Shannon! We’ll be doing some DIY project too. All Celebrations have been called off in our area due to rain and flash floods. I love your vignette, especially, the flag!
I love your vintage vignette Shannon and I think rescuing and displaying that flag is patriotic! Happy 4th of July to you friend! 🙂
Vanessa
That is exactly how I feel too. Just loads of pride shines out when I see it. Thanks Vanessa
Luv your tattered flag 🙂 Glad that you rescued it. They are so beautiful, such a shame to burn it.
Happy 4th to you as well. Not sure what tomorrow will bring. Summer in North Central Florida is a toss up. Today was beautiful until 3. Then BOOM!!! Huge wild storm rolled in. Still drizzly now…
So we will play it by ear.
Enjoy!
Hugs, Gee
ooopsss… type in my blog name.
Typing in a hurry 🙂
Watch…you will get the call from austin tonight that mammoth is not as beautiful as his sweet mama and wants you to get his room ready cause he misses his bed and is coming home tomorrow.
Hahaha… I don’t think so, he was itching to go the minute school got out. He’ll be back just in time to turn 17 (gasp!) with us.
