It’s funny how time flies..
As a blogger, I started off the brand-new year, determined to be organized and have all my projects done in a timely fashion. I’d have a Spring home tour when everything was all refreshed after the Christmas holiday, then another when I settled into Summer because I usually change everything up again and…
Oh look, it’s Fall.
Like, late Fall.
Like, some people are already decorating for Christmas, “Fall”.
When everyone else was doing Fall home tours I was still stubbornly clinging to Summer.
I didn’t want to acknowledged the F word. I was not mentally prepared for what letting go of Summer would mean.
What it means for me, is the beginning of many, many months of rain, and with that, grey skies. So I tend to drag my feet and dig in my heels until I have no choice but to be realistic and accept it.
Oh, say… when November hits.
In other words… I blog in “me time”.
Might not be the smartest blogger move, but I just can’t seem to do it any differently?
Like on a schedule. (cough-cough)
I guess that is okay, since I’m not a decorating guru, I’m just a regular old girl, who loves what I do and likes to share.
When I showed y’all the living room last week, I touched on how I was keeping it light and adding sprinkles of Fall in the house. I didn’t do my normal pile of pumpkins everywhere, just things I already had, used in new places, in new ways. I promised to share the rest of the house, at least the upper floor with you and this is it.
My Simple Decorating Mini Fall home Tour
The “wickedness” has been removed and all traces of the Halloween mantel are gone. It was a little bit hard to erase. I really enjoyed the mantel at Halloweentime this year.
You know, someone recently brought it to my attention that I always have animal things.. and they are so right! I do. I went in my home decor storage room and looked around and I’ve just about got a dang zoo going.
I just need a T-Rex and an Aardvark.
Must be drawn to them? (the cute ones, not the Aardvarks)
Look at that face though. He, is so cute.
These are the neatest little book ends, because you can personalize them with photos. I want to fill the with some family pictures, but this little Fox I found works as a place holder for now.
You might recognize my .05 cent copper vases from the apothecary cabinet in the sun room… (and yes I said 5 cents!)
You have GOT to love a good garage sale.
When I moved all this to make room for Halloween, I just relocated most of it.
Early Fall, late Fall… Thanksgiving… I like to get a lot of use out of my things.
This cabinet will play double duty by offering storage, while also acting as a make-shift bar for Thanksgiving.
Though I think I might pick a signature cocktail for Thanksgiving dinner and add a self-serve bar over in the sun room. That sounds fun and I’ve been seeing some pretty tasty looking recipes from some fellow bloggers.
I like layers, even when I try to keep things simple I always seem to add layers.
I like the different textures and colors..
Things seem to look naked to me without them.
I’ve got a tablecloth, a burlap runner I ordered here, and an old table top I removed the legs from. I used the table top last year too, but it’s been updated with Maison Blanche paint and wax. My lanterns pretty much float around all year. The versatility makes them a super-fav of mine!!
It’s a Fox… so yeah, had to have it. I’ve got two actually. The other one is a world traveler, hanging out by the globe. (you can spy him in the living room portion of the Fall tour)
These were hand made and all the proceeds went to the local shelter for women and children.
I remember running out to buy them late one night last year, after I saw them pop-up in my Facebook feed.
Just a small, locally owned boutique store, and they raised almost two thousand dollars if I remember right.
There are some things I really love about small town living.
It’s funny how so many of my things have a story, or hold some meaning for me.
Especially true with my junky treasures and hand-me-downs, like the copper canister set.
I don’t do a ton of kitchen photos… because frankly, they irritate me. My kitchen is perfect for me. The size, storage, counter space, etc… and It’ll look fine in person, but with the odd directional light from having 9 windows in the sun room and the blast of light that comes in on one side of the room from the sky light.. I can never get them right.
They tend to be light and dark, at the same time!
But I’m sucking it up, just for you.
My mother in law is on a Apple Pie making kick (of which our taste-buds are benefiting from!)
Happened to have one so perfect-prop points for me, or her!?
The statement below is dead on.
Anyone who knows me, knows it’s my least favorite chore. I’ll clean floors, bathrooms… organize.
Basically anything is preferable to doing dishes.
I love a clean kitchen though, so go figure?
Thanks so much for stopping in today… and listening to me ramble.
I enjoyed showing you around.
It’s been too long! In fact, I thought about it and the last time, was this time, last year.
Maybe an annual Fall home tour is in order?
Nah. Too much commitment…
{giggles and a wink}

Simple Decorating Mini Fall Home Tour
Your fall home is gorgeous! I adore your “foxy” touches and my mouth is still watering over that apple pie! Gosh, now I have ANOTHER reason why I wish that I lived near you….not that I really needed one!
Right now, I’ve got the last of Halloween being put away, the dining room is a combination of Thanksgiving and Christmas and the kitchen is full of crafting supplies! I don’ know how you do it, lady! Every room is more lovely than the next.
xoxo
I just wrote you!! And puhleaze. You run circles around me Miss, “I’m renovating a house, do window displays, sew stuff, etc.. etc..” sheesh. Ya make me tired.
Well considering my house is going through seasonal schizophrenia I completely appreciate taking your time before hurrying on to the next season! And you know I completely get it about the long gray days ahead my friend. Ugh. Your home looks absolutely gorgeous in all seasons and I loved this tour!
I don’t know what you’re talking about because you seem like a decorating guru to me! Your place is beautiful and impeccable and I’d like you to come decorate mine, please.
hahahaha. well thank you. I’ll just say, “thank you”. 🙂 xo
Lol You hate doing dishes but you love cute kitchen towels and so do I. Where did you get those? I hate doing laundry but I don’t think there’s a cute item that will entice me to go do more laundry! Love your Fall sprinkles. I’ve been trying to hold back the Christmas CREEP…but he’s there bellowing at us daily (mutes television). I’m trying to go with the Thanksgiving weekend before hauling out the holly. I love Fall and try to make it last no matter what the Creep keeps yelling in my ears!
Shannon,
I love your squirrel on the mantel!!!. The felted fox is so adorable I think he was well worth the evening trip out to get him.
Love your fall decor. I too like to decorate (except when I’m in procrastination mode like this year) for the holiday that we are in.
Have a great day 🙂
Tina, thank-you. I know, you gotta be in the mood right?
I am from the school of “no decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving, so your post was right on time for me. I live in Minnesota, and dread the upcoming 5-6 months of snow, so I totally get you.
See, you get it! When you know what’s coming, it can be hard to get excited. lol
So……where does one find another of that fabulous squirrel mold?.. Just adorable!!
That was a ROSS find. You’ve got to go frequently. They get stuff in and it goes right back out.
Oh how pretty Shannon! Love your Fall home and the copper accents are so petty. Cute chalkboard in the kitchen, loves it foxy friend.
Thanks Miss Doo!! hehe. Ya like that message huh 😉
Your home looks amazing! And I loved seeing pictures of your kitchen! Everything looks beautiful! 😀
ha. Those kitchen pics were just for you.
Beautiful! Simply beautiful! I had a little pinning party here this morning. I’m glad you finally decided to bring us some Fall. It was worth the wait…you do it so well!!
Aw, thanks bunches dollface!! xo – Happy Fall!!
I love your fall touches, Shannon! And I’m with you on the seasons and holidays – I dint wanna be rush into the next before I get to fully enjoy the one I’m in 🙂
Ty~Ty Jami!! It’s nice to soak up the seasons.
Ha, I’m laughing at my Scottish-sounding original comment – “din’t wanna be’ – can you tell I was on my iPad late at night? 😉
Everything looks so beautiful. And I’m right there with you on decorating on my time instead of ahead of time. I just can’t think ahead to the next season when I am still enjoying the current season, especially Summer. xo
I love the touches of orange and copper. Gorgeous.
Hey Marty. I love YOUR mixed metals and still thinking about that fur throw you’ve got… 😉
