It’s been about 5 months since I did a Happenings At The Hollow post.
I started the first one as an opportunity to share when I want to stay in touch, and sort of catch-up on things that might not fall into a particular category.
Plus, I can ramble a little without feeling too guilty.
You can find the previous Happenings At The Hollow posts here.
Our Summer started off at full speed!
The boys, along with my nephew and Jim’s mom, all went on a week long road trip. It started out a few years ago as a boys only trip for Austin and Jim. Then my nephew was invited to go along. This year, my mother in law wanted to spend some time with her son and grand sons. They did a lot of site seeing, stopping first in Klamath Falls to watch our niece graduate Magna Cum Laude. She is the super smarty pants in the family. We are all so proud!!!!
I will not lie to you though, I was a little nervous about saying goodbye to everyone. Road trips can be a lot of fun however it is so important that you take as much care as possible to ensure that you always drive safely. Of course, no one likes to think too much about being involved in a car accident, but it is natural to worry about the roads, especially during the summer when the roads are busier than ever. A friend of mine was actually injured during a road trip a few weeks ago so this might have made me feel a little bit more anxious than normal. If ever you are unlucky enough to be involved in a car accident and find yourself injured, it might be a good idea to seek legal advice and speak to a personal injury lawyer Springfield IL (if the incident was not your fault and you were injured during the event), especially if you suspect that another driver could be to blame. The last time I spoke to my friend she told me that she was in the process of contacting a personal injury lawyer similar to lamber goodnow to determine whether she might be entitled to claim compensation. I hope she manages to get the compensation she deserves.
Anyway, despite my initial worries, I am happy to tell you that the family road trip went by without any accidents. They visited Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and Oregon’s Christmas Valley. In Yellow Stone, they actually witnessed a blizzard while trying to watch Old Faithful erupt. No joke! There they were, expecting Summer weather, wearing shorts.. in a blizzard!?
While they were off adventuring, I drove a few hours over to Eugene Oregon to pick up my mom. We had a week, just us girls, and two weeks all together once the boys got back home. We did some shopping, decorating and she even helped me with an up coming holiday post! (I’ll make sure and tell you which one when it appears here). Best part was she got to be here for the 4th of July bash we hold every year.
It’s a ton of fun!! That is my mom down front in the denim jacket. Everyone is laughing and a little blurry in this one. It’s my favorite. The boys already have loads of fireworks for next year. They love to detonate… I mean, light off completely legal fire works.
We get super spoiled when my mom visits, not to mention, it’s treasured time when I get to see my mom. Me being here in Oregon, and she in California.
My mom and I made sure to hit the farmers market while she was here. I wish we had this year round, but Summer is what we get so we indulge while we can, the offerings are sublime!!
If you are traveling along the coast, and it’s a Wednesday, make sure to stop! There is more than produce. It boasts prepared foods, fresh squeezed juices, live music, hand crafted items and even gourmet fudge flavors are available!
The three week visit went by in a blink. When it was time, we drove back up as a family to take her to the airport for her departing flight. It was a beautiful day, and we squeezed all we could out of it.
A new twist to our Summer was that our son auditioned for the local theater, at the urging of a fellow ban mate and was accepted to perform in two of the Summer productions at the Little Ole Opry On The Bay for the Country and the 50’s show. He sang King of The Road and Party Doll. We are waiting for DVD’s and I’ll share more as soon as I can! I forget to ask if I could include a snap shot, so I’ll hold off on that.
We didn’t even know he could sing? I don’t think HE did either. It was a real treat. The shows were both super entertaining, but I won’t lie, the highlight was watching Austin perform. We are so used to seeing him perform in a group, with band. Even when he has solos, it’s nothing like this. Just him. Alone on stage. Well, with a live band, but pretty much sink or swim, ya know? I had major butterflies… but he nailed it.
On the DIY front… I’ve got a 90% complete bathroom makeover I’ve been dragging my feet on… my bedroom needs (I want a change) to be painted, I’ve got project ideas galore… and what do I do? Not any of that. LOL!
I need a big, fat, personal kick in the booty I tell you.
Grabbing a book at a tag sale, devouring it… then going to the library and getting 6 new books, one the sequel to the tag sale find, will not help me accomplish my to-do/want to-do list though.
At least, I’m pretty sure it’s not going to help! Can you tell I like a little escapism when I read? I’ve actually got pretty varied entertainment tastes in movies, tv, books and music. This is not a good sample of my reading tastes. I like period books and sweeping historical novels as well. I can’t stomach sappy romance novels though, and I skipped those Grey books altogether. Reading is a total indulgence for me. I’ve loved to lose myself in a book since as far back as I can remember. We actually had a book club going here at FHC for a bit, but finding the right way to host the monthly meeting was a real challenge? I might give it a try again and find a better platform for hosting the book chat, I really enjoyed it! Is that something you might be interested in?
Right now.. the latest episode of True Blood I DVR’ed is calling my name. It’s the last season so I’m going to finish it out, even though I’m super disappointed with pretty much the whole series. Why all those books were not good enough as-is and everything was changed is beyond me?
I think before I get too-too ramble-y I will sign off.
Wishing you the Summer you desire.

I never imagined I’d have a chance to pin rhubarb, but I LOVE that picture! It helps that I love rhubarb, but still.

Oh Shannon, everything was so pretty and vibrant. It all looked like mini nature art. A few of the vendors asked if I was taking photos for the paper.. um.. no? haha. I just think it’s pretty.

Hello! I need to say thank you for the lips and moustache printables! I tried to leave a message on that actual post but couldn’t find where I should type. Anyway, thank you so VERY MUCH for your awesome free printable. I am helping put together a friend’s baby shower and will use these for a game! Thanks again!
