Mixed Metals New Year’s Eve Mantel Decorating Ideas

New Year’s Eve at Fox Hollow is all about TWO THINGS this year.

Simple |  Sparkle

If it doesn’t glow, gleam, glisten, shimmer or shine.

Fahgettaboutit!

I basically took a little gold paint and glitter to everything and threw some silver sequins and tinsel garland on top for good measure.

I’m an equal opportunity metallic lovah.

I’ll take it in GOLD and SILVER.

My mantel includes:

White Taper Candles – Brushed with gold paint.

Then, popped in a Ball Mason Jar – Brushed with gold paint and topped with gold glitter

Dollar Tree Votives – Brushed with gold paint and dusted with {more} gold glittah.

Old Pickle Jars – Trimmed in silver tinsel garland.

Add a little mercury glass… a thrifted silver tray.

Oh, and more gold glitter.

Candles are SO EASY to glitter up.

The one with the single band of glitter? Double sided tape.

Totally works!!

The other two, I simply put a strip of scotch tape around them, added a sweep of gold paint and dusted on…

MORE gold glitter.

It’s hard to tell just how pretty and sparkly they are so peek here. I took the short fat one over into the sun room to get you a better picture.

I like sparkles, sparkles are my favorite.

I made this artwork for the mantel too.

It doesn’t have any glitter on it. But it sparkles too.

And it was soooo easy. and fun. and I know you will want to make one too when you see just how easy it was.

I’m going to show you tomorrow though because Jim will be home any minute and I want to spend some time with my boys. Unless they drive me crazy. In that case, I’ll go over to ROSS to see what I can spend my big, fat Christmas gift card on! {winks}
